Hi I'm Cherie

I am a child of God, a mother, a genealogist, a cook, a gardener, and adult caregiver, And I AM A MORMON!

About Me

I have a degree in design. I worked initially after graduation. I have recently put my skills towards our remodel on our house. I met my husband at our church and we have been married over 25 years. I have 3 great kids that are grown and starting their own lives. I have a delightful grandson. I have one daughter with cerebral palsy that stays with us. She is a lot of work but brings great happiness to our home. I enjoy baking, gardening, and being with my family. I like chess and backgammon. I enjoy the many ethnicities of my friends. I try to learn secrets of cooking from their cultures. Many of them like to come and see our tiny “farm”. We used to have dairy goats and milked for quite some time. I made cheese out of the milk and won the grand prize for dairy at our county fair two years in a row and many blue ribbons. It was such fun time as the kids were showing them at the fair. We decided dairy goats were hard on vacations and so we opted out. There are still chickens! I like to travel. Actually, our honeymoon was a 3 month camping trip to Canada and Alaska. Recently, we took a 17 day trip to the Yucatan, Mexico. We drove around and saw over 20 ruins. What an adventure! We went to Thailand and saw tigers, crocodiles, snake, and elephants. We went to Hawaii, eastern and western Canada. Our next goal is perhaps Eastern Europe and New Zealand.

Why I am a Mormon

I like going to church! It has helped me and my family in living better lives. People sometimes ask what is different in my life and it is the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. It provided directions and standards for us. It provided the Lord's spirit in our home. I can pray and get answers and helps to my problems. I know who I am and where I am going. We treat each other better because of the things we have learned from the gospel. It is also a great place to find the most wonderful friends! Most of all I want to worship and serve Jesus Christ and our Heavenly Father because I know of their love and help for me.

How I live my faith

Jesus Christ is a great example for us! He was always helping others. I try to do the same thing. When my friends are struggling and ask for help, I try to tell them to turn to Jesus. He is the best help of all. I also do what I can. When I am sick or something bad happens, my friends at church will help. I read my scriptures daily and I pray every day. It is great! Our family gets together on Mondays and has a gospel lesson or activity together. We have an prayer and religious song as well. Everyone enjoys it! I teach the 7-8 year old children at church about baptism. It is a great age! They are more capable and love to listen to the lessons. They like activities for sure! I volunteer at my local FHC and have worked with genealogy for my own family as well as many others seeking help. I speak and read some Spanish, I read some French, even smaller amount of Portuguese and German. If you need help with your genealogy let me know! Best of all we go to church every Sunday for worship services. It is a great way to remind yourself of who you want to be like-Jesus.
