Hi I'm C. Allen Howard

I live in Florida, a father of 6, an active scouter, play the piano, and am a professional salesman. I'm a mormon.

About Me

Purpose/Goals: I seek to do God's will, serve others, and enjoy each day. Some days I do better than others :) Background: I was raised in a mormon family, the oldest of 5 kids. I lived in Idaho until I left for College. I have lived in Idaho, Utah, Israel, Indiana, Maryland, Virginia, Pennsylvania, Texas, New York, and Florida. Personal: I grew up trying to achieve, some call it being a "type A" personality. I'm trying to unlearn being a overachiever and learn to relax and enjoy life. The older I get the more I find that happiness in life is related to people, especially my family, friends, and those I interact with and try to serve. Losing one's life in service to others is where happiness has been found in my life. Career: I studied engineering in college, then switched to training and development in graduate school. My dissertation was about the transition from engineer to manager, and what is challenging about this transition. I am currently a professional in Business to Business sales in the high tech industry. In my daily work I try to help others succeed with the products my company provides. My career enables me to support my family and contribute to society. Hobbies: With 6 kids at home, my biggest hobby is supporting them in their pursuits: Theater, sports, music, activities, etc. In addition, I find time to play the piano, care for a handful of Bonsai trees, and read books about personal growth and development. I also do a lot of home improvement projects.

Why I am a Mormon

I believe that the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, is the restoration of the Church that Christ set up while He was upon the earth, and that He leads and guides it. In this Church can be found the truth that will lead us back into God's presence. I believe the Book of Mormon is scripture and contains the word of God that He has brought forth for us at this time in the world. As I have studied the doctrine and lived the principles taught in this Church, my life has been blessed. The spirit of the Lord has answered my prayers and witnessed to my soul that these things are true. God is real, He lives, and is our Eternal Father. Jesus Christ is our Savior and Redeemer, through Him we can be forgiven of our sins and made clean. Through Him we will also be resurrected. God has spoken to men since the time of Adam. We call these men prophets. We are blessed to have prophets of God on the earth today. These inspired men speak the word of the Lord just as Moses and others did anciently. Their guidance and teaching show us how God would have us live today. They are a great blessing from God. God lives. He loves us. He has given us his teachings so that we can learn how to live and have faith in Him. This knowledge guides my life.

How I live my faith

Each day I strive to look to God and live as He directs. Morning prayer and scripture study are important to me. This helps me get the spirit and start the day with an eternal focus. I love the scriptures and the inspired words of his current Prophet, Apostles, and other leaders. His word gives the guidance that will lead me back to Him, to live in His presence. In my local congregation I work with the youth. I am the Scoutmaster of our troop and teach Sunday Gospel classes. I enjoy sharing my testimony of the gospel with them and supporting their growth and development. I support and strengthen them and am blessed and strengthened by them. Campfire programs and testimony sharing around a campfire are some of the highlights I enjoy most. The doctrine of Christ is central to my life. I love the word of the Lord. I do my best each day to live the principles I have learned. I seek to be like Christ, even though at times that destination seems so far away. I find great joy and peace in the teachings of the gospel. My efforts to be righteous are rewarding, and also difficult as the natural struggles and challenges of life come along. I have faith in God and His promises. I try to live each day in a way that will be pleasing to God and bring about His purposes.
