Hi I'm Solomon

I am from Africa. I was born in Southern Sudan. I came to the United States in 2001, and I am a Mormon!

About Me

I went to FCCJ (Florida Community College of Jacksonville) I enjoy playing music like the piano. I am one of the "lost boys" from South Sudan. I have one sister and 3 brothers in my family who are still in Sudan. I love going to the Mormon church! I met the missionaries outside a gas station, and have loved being a part of this church. I used to be a Catholic, and that is how I got the name Solomon.

Why I am a Mormon

I am a Mormon because its true. Back in October of 2013 I was outside my workplace taking a break when 2 young men in white shirts and ties approached me. They showed me a copy of the Book of Mormon and invited me to read it. I struggled at first understanding what I was reading, but they came by each week and helped me understand. I felt joy as the missionaries taught me. I began to believe more and more each time they shared something new with me. I was baptized on December 8th, 2013 when I knew for myself that the church was true. I continue on being happy as a member of Christ's church restored upon the earth. I love the people in the church, they are good people who have a great sense of peace. They have helped me many times in the months I have been apart of the Church.

How I live my faith

When I was baptized, I invited my friend to my baptism, and introduced him to the missionaries. The next month he was also baptized. I do regular bible study with the missionaries and my friends who are not yet baptized.

Are there restrictions based on race or color concerning who can join The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and have the priesthood?

Solomon
Since becoming a member of the church I have learned that anyone, no matter their color, race, or nationality, can become a member of the church. This past month I received the Aaronic Priesthood. Any worthy male can receive the Priesthood. Show more Show less
