Hi I'm Lara

I grew up in Southern CA. I am currently studying psychology at Brigham Young University of Idaho. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

My name is Lara. I am currently a second semester freshman at BYU-Idaho. I am studying psychology because I want to be a family therapist. My hobbies are running, hiking, singing, going to the beach, and spending time with my family. I have been a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints my whole life but have recently been converted.

Why I am a Mormon

For all of my life I rejected the gospel. These feelings of hatred stemmed from my parents' divorce and At the time I believed that since the church promised that my families would be together forever, it was a lie because that was not my case. It was not until my senior year of high school where I realized I was lost and did not know where to go to college and what to do with my life. My father and step mother made me go to church for so many years as a youth and I had never received my own strong testimony of the church. This was the time where I had to decide if I was going to continue to go to church or not. I prayed and read the Book of Mormon for the first time by myself. After a couple of months I finally finished the book and asked in faith if it were true. I received an overwhelming feeling of love during that prayer and knew that it was a true book. I then continued to pray to my Heavenly Father every night about where I should decide to go to school and now I am at BYU-Idaho! I have never been more happy in my life. I believe that Joseph Smith was a prophet and that through the Holy Ghost he translated the Book of Mormon and helped restore the gospel on Earth. I know that President Monson is a prophet in these latter-days and receives revelation to help guide the Church. I know the Book of Mormon is true and that we are meant to read it to learn important principles that help us lead fruitful lives. I know that Heavenly Father sent His Begotten Son, our Savior Jesus Christ to atone for our sins so that we may repent and return to Him one day. I am so grateful for this Church and how through the Atonement I am given a second chance. I feel my Heavenly Father and Savior's love everyday and I receive blessings from them everyday. I know with them I can do anything. It is so comforting to have Christ's light pave the way for me through these dark and perilous times. I cannot imagine my life without this wonderful gospel.

How I live my faith

The way I am serving the Lord is by participating and magnifying my calling as the second counselor of the Relief Society in Young Single Adults ward where I assist the Young Women in my ward and help out in any way I can when it comes to organizing activities and being there for the girls. I also participate in visiting teaching and am currently preparing to go on a mission to spread the gospel and share the plan of happiness with others.

How can we increase our faith in Jesus Christ?

Lara
How we can improve our faith in Christ is by first off knowing who He is. You know more about Him by reading from the Book of Mormon and Bible and studying both His life and His teachings. You learn about His atonement and example and make that applicable to your own life. Next you ask yourself, how badly you want a strong testimony of Christ. Show more Show less
