Hi I'm Nick

I'm a police lieutenant, survivalist, übergeek, and steward of useless information. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

There's really nothing special about me. I love studying survival, self-reliance, history and science. I love hiking, backpacking, off-roading and other outdoor activities.

Why I am a Mormon

I am Mormon because I know what I know. I firmly believe that God speaks to his children. We are all his children. He has spoken to me. Through study and personal revelation, He has revealed to me that this is the path He has chosen for me and He expects me to follow it.

How I live my faith

I serve as a counselor in my local men's organization and visit members of the local ward. I try to serve my community and those in need as much as I can. Though I am far from perfect, I try to live as a representative of my faith.

Why is self-reliance important to Mormons? Why do Mormons talk about emergency preparedness?

Self-reliance is important to Mormons because it teaches us to be independent. It teaches us to take care of ourselves when no one else can. This is especially important in time of unemployment, disaster, etc. By having the knowledge and resources to take care of ourselves and our families in these times, we do not simply survive, we thrive in times of misfortune. Emergency preparedness is important for similar reasons. At any time, we may find ourselves in the middle of a natural disaster or other crisis. By keeping a supply of emergency supplies (water, food, shelter, first-aid, etc.) and by having an emergency plan (and contingency plan) we can overcome any situation we may find ourselves in. Self-reliance and emergency preparedness go hand-in-hand. Show more Show less
