Hi I'm Aubrey Watts

I grew up in Highland, UT. I love music, hiking, and skiing. I am a Mormon.

About Me

I'm currently serving a mission in the Belgium/Netherlands Mission! I will be in this beautiful country for the next 18 months helping others. I am the third child of two wonderful parents. I have five siblings that I consider to be my best friends. I was born and raised in Utah, and it is such a marvelous place to live! I absolutely love to go hiking and skiing. Some of my favorite books/plays are "The Count of Monte Cristo", "As I Lay Dying" by Faulkner, the Harry Potter series, the Lord of the Rings series (including the Hobbit), "The Importance of Being Earnest", and almost anything by Jane Austen, Charlotte Brontë, or e.e. cummings. I adore music: I've been blessed with the opportunity to have been able to learn to play the piano and the violin. I enjoy singing as well, although I'm no Bernadette Peters! I love art, and am considering a major in Graphic Design.

Why I am a Mormon

There are many reasons I am Mormon. Too many to list. I was born in Utah &--you guessed it--was born into the church. I was raised by two incredible parents who always exuded the love they had for the gospel of Jesus Christ & the LDS Church. They always showed me that the joy in their lives came from living the gospel faithfully. I don't pretend to have always known that this church is true. I have always known it was a good thing, but the knowledge I have today of its verity has accumulated over the last 19 years of my life. I have had doubts. I have had fears & frustrations. But through the power of the spirit of God in my life, along with faithfully acting on the promises I read in the scriptures, I have come to know that the LDS church is the only true church on the earth today. Other religions have elements of the truth, but this Church has the fullness of the truth, restored through the prophet Joseph Smith jr. What some might call restrictions, I call safety boundaries set to protect me from the temptations. The law of Chastity--the commandment from God to abstain from sex before marriage--is a boundary I choose to have in my life so I can protect my body & my spirit from harm. The Word of Wisdom is revelation from God that we should not use alcohol, drugs, or any other addictive substance--including coffee & tea. But also included in the Word of Wisdom is the command to care for our bodies by eating healthy & exercising. Because I live the word of wisdom, I am always alert, capable of making decisions & acting to the best of my ability, & am always ready for promptings from the Spirit. I love this gospel because it helps me to be the best person I can be. I love this gospel because of the joy & hope it brings to my life. I know I can always repent of my sins, because I am NOT a perfect person by any means. I have such a close relationship with my Savior and His Atonement. I am Mormon because it helps me be a better person than I could ever be on my own.

How I live my faith

I live the gospel of Jesus Christ by trying my best every day to do a little better. Sometimes that doesn't happen, but I know I can repent when I make mistakes. I love serving in church callings because they allow me to apply my talents to serve other people. I am currently serving an 18 month mission for the Church in the Belgium/Netherlands mission. I will be in the Netherlands for a year and a half to teach others about the thing that makes me happier than anything else in the world. I also want to share the gospel of Jesus Christ because it is the thing that helps us to be freed from guilt that comes from sin and the sadness that comes from trials or challenges. I know that through the Atonement of Jesus Christ, and if we have the desire to repent and be healed, we can have peace and JOY in this life! Participating in church callings is a very amazing blessing in my life because each calling helps me to stay active in my belief and faith in Jesus Christ and His Atonement. My callings help me to act on the faith that I have, which has always led to growth.

What is the Relief Society?

Aubrey Watts
Relief Society is an amazing organization for women of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints that are 18 years old or older. I love being part of Relief Society because it absolutely feels like a network of sisters who all just love one another and help one another. The prophet has told us that Relief Society's purpose is "to build faith and personal righteousness, strengthen families and homes, and help those in need." I love this organization!
