Hi I'm Sam

I'm on my mission in the DR, Santiago. I grew up in Utah, now live in New Zealand, I love this gospel, and I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I am 19, I love the church and my family, I like to draw and take computers apart. I want to study Computer Programming and Digital Design in university after I finish serving a mission in Dominican Republic, Santiago. I grew up moving all over the place and have consequently moved over 20 times, but I'm grateful for the many friends I've met and amazing places I've seen. I've learned to adapt to my surroundings, in Utah I played basketball and snowboarded a lot, now in New Zealand I Run and Surf. In all my travels New Zealand is the most beautiful place I've ever been, so I'm proud to live here and call myself a 'kiwi'. I moved to New Zealand because my family wanted a change of pace and my dad is a kiwi, so we decided to permanently live here. I am currently serving my mission in Dominican Republic, Santiago, I love it, I can't really explain it better than that. I'm learning Spanish, slowly, but I am working hard.

Why I am a Mormon

Because I know that this church is the only thing that can bring everlasting happiness, and I know it's true. I cannot simply deny that I know it's true. I can't explain it, only testify of it. It has saved my family, healed my heart, and taught me so many lessons that I know are from God. I respect the message of love and service that this church offers and I hope that I can offer that same message to those around me. I also know that this is a church of progression and I want to progress as much as I possibly can while on Earth so I can become more like my Saviour. I know that the only way I can progress to be like him is to gain christlike traits through serving others.

How I live my faith

I love to help people and learn more about the gospel. Here in New Zealand I have the special opportunity to go out with the missionaries to meet new people and share my testimony. I am preparing to serve a full time mission myself, so I am studying and learning more about the gospel, I am grateful to have worked to save for my mission as well. I have developed a strong work ethic from saving for my mission, I appreciate the value of others work as well. I also was able to influence my workmates, to show them an example of one that knows who he is and knows what he is going to do with his life. I love my church callings, I am a ward missionary and I work with the youth. I have so many amazing experiences with these two callings, I also get a lot of kicks out of it, especially working with the youth. It's amazing how much you can learn from obediently serving in your callings, I have come to know of the blessings from serving in my callings. My dad calls this the second most important calling that you can ever have in the church after being a father, and it is home teaching, he has taught me what it means to be a good home teacher, he loves his families and goes the extra mile for them, this is how I want to treat people around me, I want to wholeheartedly help people.
