Hi I'm Lauren

I'm from Maryland, I'm a college student, I love to cook, I am a returned missionary from Guatemala, and I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I am 22 years old. I am originally from Frederick, Maryland. I am currently living in Rexburg, Idaho studying food science and nutrition at BYU-Idaho. I love anything about food especially creating new recipes! I love playing tennis, going camping and hiking, and just being outside. One day I hope to travel the world and try foods from many many different countries. My religion means the world to me! Being a Mormon has helped me to have an exceedingly great faith and hope for the future. I love the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints with all my heart.

Why I am a Mormon

I was born and raised in the Mormon church, but it wasn't until I was a teenager that I truly knew why I was a part of this church. I'm a Mormon because nothing in my life has every felt so right. When I read the Book of Mormon and pray to my Heavenly Father the feelings of peace that come over me are so incredibly strong. My Heavenly Father has been there for me through my weakest days and lifted me up. When I pray to him I know that he listens, he helps me everyday to know that I am important and loved. I strive to please him everyday because I am so grateful for the blessings that he gives me. I'm a Mormon because, even though this life can be so challenging, I know that my Heavenly Father wont give me anything I cant handle and he has already prepared a way for me to accomplish the things he wants me to do(1 Nephi 3:7)! I live for him, I live to honor him, I live to return to him, because after this short life of trials and challenges are over I want to return to my Heavenly Father and know that he is proud of me.

How I live my faith

Being a Mormon and living the gospel of Jesus Christ is more than just going to church, living a good life, and keeping the standards given by the prophets, but it's not complicated or confusing. The best way that I have learned to live my faith is by growing closer to my Father in Heaven and his son Jesus Christ. When I follow their council, when I read my scriptures, and when I pray with real intent I learn how to live my faith in a way that is pleasing to them. I do my best to share my testimony as often and with as many people as I can. Even if it is just by my example. I know that others notice the difference and even a single smile can change the way others see the church. It is also by service that I exercise my faith in the gospel. I strive to be like Jesus Christ and follow his example of service. It is important to me to have the spirit in my heart at all times so that I can share it with others. Living my faith everyday makes me so much happier than I could ever imagine!
