Hi I'm Menley

I am a sister. I am a friend. I am a missionary. I build rockets. I am a Texan. I am a Mormon!

About Me

I love everything outside, from building rockets, to skateboarding, soccer, skiing, and swimming. I participated in Applied Physics Research at BYU. My major is Mechanical Engineering, aspiring to be a pilot, engineer, institute teacher, rocket scientist, and most importantly, a mother. For now, my purpose is to invite others to come unto Christ by serving as a full time missionary in San Diego, California!

Why I am a Mormon

I'm a Mormon because everything makes sense. I know God loves me. We all go through those times we don't know exactly why things happen, or how things all work out, but they do. Things will work out, and we will all have the opportunity to be happy, and to live with our families forever with God. He loves us, and he does everything he can to help us, and he gave us His Son, Jesus Christ. He answers our questions, as we pray simply, and Ive had prayers answered. I sat in Carthage Jail my freshman year, where Joseph Smith was martyred, and I prayed and asked God if Joseph Smith was truly a prophet. The spirit filled the room, and confirmed to me that he was. It's so amazing to know that God loves us, he wants us to be happy, and it's influenced every day of my life. It's the reason I'm serving a mission. I want everyone to know what joy I feel every day from knowing I am a daughter of my Heavenly Father.

How I live my faith

I live my faith by just loving others. Smiling, serving, and answering questions about what I believe not only builds my faith, but hopefully points people to the Savior, Jesus Christ. They should see it by the way we treat everyone around us. We believe that through the Atonement of Christ, we can be saved, and he will bear our burdens with us. As we reach out to others, they feel God's love. I hope that everyone wants to know the Savior more because they know me. He has provided the way for us to feel his love, and guidance daily, and its a great blessing in my life to share this with others! John 13:34-35 A new commandment I give unto you, That ye love one another; as I have loved you, that ye also love one another. By this shall all men know that ye are my disciples, if ye have love one to another.

Why was a Restoration of the Gospel needed? Haven’t we always had the Bible?

When Christ lived on the Earth, he established His Church. He ordained Apostles, and led His people. When he returned to live with our Father in Heaven, the Apostles held the authority to direct His church. Eventually, the Apostles were killed, and the Earth lost that Priesthood Authority. This started the great Apostasy. If you think about it like a mirror, The Priesthood is the frame, and without the frame, the mirror shatters. Then, you get all these pieces of the gospel in other churches. All the other churches have bits of truth in them, but you need that Authority from God to make the church complete. Joseph Smith saw God the Father, and Jesus Christ. I know he did. And Jesus Christ was able to restore the Priesthood Authority to the Earth again to Joseph Smith. We have the restored gospel on the Earth today, under the leadership of modern day prophets, who receive direction from the Lord, Jesus Christ. Show more Show less

How can faith in Jesus Christ influence us in our marriages and family relationships? in our friendships?

Faith fuels our everyday lives. It can be the means of support in good times, and bad. As we have faith in God, bad things may still happen; but with that faith, we can have the strength along with the knowledge that through Jesus Christ, we can be healed and cleansed. No goodbyes are forever in God's plan for us, we will see them again. We should forgive others, and look forward in faith knowing that Jesus Christ's plan has enabled all of us to repent. Lives can be shattered, but in faith, we know all can be made whole again. Show more Show less
