Hi I'm Jake

I'm serving a mission in Idaho. I love Hiking. I'm an adventure seeker. I drink Mountain Dew. I don't have 5 moms. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

My name is Jake Henstrom. I was born and raised in Plymouth, Minnesota, and lived a couple years in Brussels, Belgium. I'm a student at Brigham Young University. I have been a Mormon all my life, and am currently serving a 2 year service mission in Boise Idaho.

Why I am a Mormon

Growing up in schools and communities where there weren't many members of my faith, I learned the importance of holding on to your faith in values. I was constantly surrounded by influences that went against my beliefs, even though I am a Christian and much of the community was Christian. I chose to be a Mormon because when I pray to God I feel comforted, loved, and known by Him. Just because I was raised as a Mormon doesn't mean I didn't face challenges in life, or doubts in my religion as anyone would. There were multiple times in my life where I felt alone; that no God was watching over me, that he didn't love me and my pursuit of having faith in him was futile. Through trial and error in my faith in God, I have come to know how much my God in heaven loves me, as well every single person on this planet past, present, and future. I'm serving a 2 year service mission in Boise, Idaho. This wasn't an easy decision to make. And it wasn't all my decision. I know God wants nothing more than me to serve, that he will help me on my journey, and give me strength to succeed.

How I live my faith

I have had various leadership callings as I've been a member all my life. I've been involved in Scouts all my youth, and achieved Eagle rank. During my first semester at BYU, I was the head of a "family home evening" group; where a bunch of students and I got together to learn about the gospel through lessons, played games, and grew closer together. Right now I'm serving a 2 year church mission in Idaho, where I'll be teaching about the Mormon religion to those interested, and working with my local church.
