Hi I'm Steve

I'm a former U.S. Marine and a journalist. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I joined the U.S. Marine Corps right out of high school to be a military journalist. I traveled the world writing stories about Marines and their counterparts in various operations and exercises. I played soccer, volleyball, basketball, and football for various bases in my career, and was even invited to try out for the All-Marine Soccer team. Only an injury prevented me from playing. When I seperated from the Corps, I moved back home and was a journalist at a small newspaper. I am currently an employee of the Department of Defense. I am the father of three wonderful children.

Why I am a Mormon

I was born into a Mormon family in Utah, but looked for the first chance out, hense the Marine Corps. When presented with the opportunity to choose after taking an assignemnt away from my wife and kids in Japan, I left the church. I avoided it at every turn. But eventually, there was a slight tug pulling me toward something religious. I tried a couple of different churches in that year, but never lasted more than a few minutes into each sermon. It wasn't the right place for me. When I returned to the states and my family, I went back to church. While I've not been fully imersed in the gospel, I'm getting there. I have faith in my Savior Jesus Christ and in his plan for me. This church is what keeps me going in my times of trouble.

How I live my faith

I serve my faith as both a youth sunday school teacher and as a Boy Scouts of America Scoutmaster. I enjoy serving as the scoutmaster.
