Hi I'm Matt

I am an electrical engineer that enjoys creating new things. I was a missionary in Iowa. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I like to tinker. Whether it be with the computer or around the house. Its fun to figure out how to do things like fix a car or care for a yard. I am about to become a dad to a beautiful little girl. My wife and I are grateful for this opportunity. We hope to take what we learned from our parents and take care of her the best we can.

Why I am a Mormon

Each piece of the puzzle fits together. The church is continuing to grow and things do change. This is because it is a living church. The way the Lord teaches us may be different over time, however, the doctrines of the gospel do not contradict each other. In the church we are taught to question our beliefs (e.g. think about what/why we believe), but never doubt our testimony once it comes. I am grateful for a testimony of my Savior. I cannot doubt it because I know I know he is the Son of God - the Savior of the World. I found that out by making an honest effort to read the words of the Savior in the Bible and Book of Mormon - the ancient accounts of Prophets in both Jerusalem and the Americas. I read these scriptures and prayed with all sincerity to know if it was true. I received a confirmation in my heart and a peace in my mind. Those feelings continue to grow as I continue to remain active in His church. Things fit together in His church. Sure - every question you have may not be answered, but key ones can. For instance we are all the children of God and he loves us. He is absolutely merciful and kind. He loves us even when we make mistakes and helps us to become better if we choose to.

How I live my faith

I have enjoyed getting to know the people in my area including those who share my faith and otherwise. Previously I was involved as a scout leader. It was great to teach the local youth how to tie knots and give service to the community. It was fun to work with people that have so much potential and energy. They taught me so much. Currently I am a teacher in my church. I was recently asked to do this. It has given me an opportunity to study and learn more about Jesus Christ and facilitate discussion with my neighbors. I'm glad they understand I'm not perfect and thank me for teaching even when I make mistakes. Its how we all grow -- by doing our best and stretching ourselves a little bit each day.
