Hi I'm David Dahl

I live in Wylie, TX. I started three businesses, taught at a community college; now I'm retired. I am a Mormon.

About Me

I am the father of six children and grandfather to 24. To support my family, I started businesses first in commercial laundry equipment, appliance and refrigeration repair, then heating and air conditioning. I retired early because of a psychotic disorder. I live a regular life as long as I avoid stressful situations. I spend my time managing our home, volunteering on city boards and commissions and helping others. I enjoy reading and learning. I try to learn something new every day. I also enjoy watching sports and appreciate the talents of others.

Why I am a Mormon

For me, this should be labelled why I have chosen to stay with the faith I was raised in. I have often heard others say that it must be easier since I was raised a Mormon. Truth is, I had to make a choice like everyone does. I went through the turbulent teens like everyone else. I questioned everything. Even as I got older, I have had challenges to my beliefs in the form of questions that are hard to answer. I have been treated harshly by other people and could have been bitter. Indeed, though I may know the terminology better, or some facts, history, etc., my beliefs and inner faith comes by testing the fruits of Mormonism. I have read and studied the Holy Bible and the Book of Mormon, Another Testament of Jesus Christ and find them to be in harmony and have received for myself a witness of truth. I know that God lives and Jesus Christ is his Son. I have received the blessings of the priesthood and also know that if I am faithful, I can be with my family for eternity.

How I live my faith

A large part of my life is spent in service. I am very interested in helping others. I try to stay informed and vote wisely. I seek to choose honorable men and women for public office. Through my faith, I am given the opportunity to minister each month to four other families. With my companion, we visit them and share a gospel message. We also watch out for temporal and emotional needs. The families vary widely in church activity, age and interests. I enjoy attending our local congregation and supporting the teachers and leaders there. In the past I have served in many teaching and leadership assignments involving children, youth and adults. Currently, I work to assist the missionaries who work in our area.
