Hi I'm Marrott Weekes

I grew up in Utah and lived in Vermont. I love soccer and played for SVU as a freshman. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I am a student at Southern Virginia University and love studying. I am very big into athletics and my favorite sports are first soccer, followed closely by basketball. Music is wonderful and I have played a number of instruments throughout my life. The ones that I still play are guitar and piano and I love having jam sessions with my friends and family, particularly on the guitar. Friends are important to me and I love to be out of the house doing basically anything under the sun especially when the sun is out. This involves hiking, walking, biking, exploring, sports, swimming and whatever else comes to mind. Laughing is healthy and so is smiling and I do both a lot.

Why I am a Mormon

I was born to members of the Church and so grew up and was raised as a Mormon. As a child I didn't necessarily understand what it meant to be a follower of Christ and why it was important. Until, that is, when I first accepted the challenge to read the Book of Mormon and to pray and ask God if it is true. I did this as a youth and recognized the spirit touch me and confirm to me that it was indeed true. Since then The Lord has constantly reaffirmed to me the truth of His gospel in this church and my testimony has grown as I have continued to gain knowledge. I know that God loves each and everyone of us and that we are his spiritual sons and daughters. I know that the revealed gospel have been once again restored here on the earth through the prophet Joseph Smith and that we a still led by a living prophet. I have felt the joy that comes from living the gospel and sharing it with others and will continue to do so throughout my life. This is why I'm a Mormon

How I live my faith

Part of how I live my faith involves sacrificing time on Sundays when most people like me would be out playing sports to keep the sabbath holy and participate in wholesome activities. I attend church weekly where I have been involved in teaching the youth as well as leading my peers as a young man. I also spend the day with my family or visiting other members to see how they and their families are getting along and to enjoy some time with them. Perhaps the biggest way that I live my faith though is by what I am doing, which is serving as a missionary for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints.

What do Mormons believe about the nature of God?

Marrott Weekes
The first thing that should be remembered about the nature of God is that he is a glorified being of flesh and bones. He is alive like we are and has been perfected. We are created in his image and he gave us a chance to live in this mortal life because he loves us and so that we could obtain a body. He is merciful, kind, just and has prepared a way for all of us to return to him someday. Show more Show less
