Hi I'm Sam Hardy

I'm a stay at home dad. I enjoy the simple things in life. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I am currently attending college in the field of construction management and am doing horribly at it. I have always enjoyed labor with my hands. I learned from my mom how to tinker with things that are broken and to take things apart just to see how they work. My dad taught me how to be presentable, professional, and dignified. Family has always been a huge part of my life, being from a family with 9 kids you kind of have no choice. I also enjoy being active. I love skateboarding, running, biking, camping--if it's outside and I have the time and money to do it I'm in. I have the most beautiful wife and daughter in the world and if I had nothing else, they would be enough. Staying at home and raising our daughter is the coolest experience of my entire life! Traditionally women tend to stay home and raise children but I'm a non-traditional kind of guy. Besides my wife is far more talented and intelligent than I am so if she wants to earn the bacon I have no problem eating it.

Why I am a Mormon

I'm a member of the church because of personal revelation. I love that anything and everything that we want to know or understand in this life is attainable. I have observed the doctrines of this church to be fully open and honest even to things that we don't fully understand. If there is something that I want to know bad enough, and I put in the effort to learn it I know God will teach it to me. I grew up a member of the church but through trials and tests in my life I have learned the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints is the "real deal", and it has a place for everyone. I love that I don't have to be perfect to be actively engaged in the faith, and I don't have to compare myself to those around me to feel that I'm doing my very best. Being a part of this religion has taught me how to have a meaningful personal relationship with my Father in Heaven. I will never regret any amount of time or energy I have put into living my faith because it has made me the person that I am. My testimony also relies very heavily on the fact that it's not popular in our day and age to be religious or have morals. So when I hear negative things about the church it only makes me believe it more. It's the same reason to me that many people dislike a sports team that wins their respective championship year after year--it's because that winning team has something no other team does. I know God directs this church, and I love that everyone can have that same knowledge if we're willing to put in the effort to gain it.

How I live my faith

I am a missionary for our local congregation, and I love it! Missionary work is my favorite thing in the whole world, and just being in the presence of missionaries and people that want to share this wonderful faith is incredibly rewarding. I think sometimes I over think what can be considered missionary work, when it can be as simple as just caring for and serving those around me. Christ teaches us to love one another and to be charitable, so that's how I strive to live my faith. I believe wholeheartedly in the power of the Atonement and the power of repentance. If there is one person in this world that needs to repent everyday it is me. So I guess the best way to say I live my faith is simple--I try really really HARD to treat others the way I would like to be treated.
