Hi I'm Brodie

I was born and raised in Canada, I am a student at the University of Alberta, and I'm a Mormon

About Me

I'm working on a degree in Psychology, hoping to get into grad school to one day become Chartered Psychologist. The human mind is incredible, and I want to be able to help people understand at least a little more about how theirs works. I am also a big snowboarder. I may not be an olympic medalist, but it is a lot of fun, and when i have time for it, that is always one of the first things I would want to be doing. Being up in the mountains surrounded by snow, or even just down the street with a bungee cord and a hand rail, that is one of my passions. I also have taught myself to play the guitar and the ukulele, which is a lot of fun, and is a good way for me to keep myself in a happy mood. Music can calm me down or cheer me up, and can help me express emotions in a unique way that I have come to love. I am engaged to be married to a beautiful girl named Angela, whom I love dearly, and we are both excited to be sealed for time and all eternity in the Cardston, Alberta Temple. That is going to be the best day of my life, and both of us are looking forward to the day that our love will become eternal.

Why I am a Mormon

The reasons why I am Mormon are quite simple. The Lord revealed to me, through his Holy Spirit, that the Gospel of His son, Jesus Christ, in it's entirety and purity, exists in The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. I am Mormon because God told me to be! And I figured I had better do what he says! And I can say now, through all of my experiences and time spent living Christ's Gospel that my life has been blessed in so many ways. I am a happier, more confident, more peaceful individual because of what I have learned and lived, but more importantly I know what my purpose is here on earth, and what my potential is afterward. I know this to be true. It is true, and anyone can come to that same knowledge through earnest, heart-felt seeking of the truth, and praying in faith to God to know the truth. God loves us, and so He hasn't stopped revealing His will to His children. Through the Prophet Joseph Smith we received Christ's Gospel once more. It is and has been perpetuated through modern-day prophets until today, through Thomas S. Monson, who holds all the keys to the Lord's Kingdom on earth. I will testify of this my whole life through, and I am so proud of the man I have become because of these truths. I invite anyone and everyone to try the Lord's promises: "Ask, and ye shall receive; Knock, and it shall be opened unto you."

How I live my faith

I belong to a branch of the church full of young single adults, many of which are students like me, some who have just graduated from high school, and even some who are done schooling and have already joined the work force. There is always plenty to do, and the LDS church is all about serving others. There are a few people that I am responsible, with a companion, to go and visit every month, help with whatever they need, and just be there when they need it. The church is just a group of people who are striving to follow Christ, and we need to help keep track of each other, and we do our best to make sure everyone is accounted for, and that they have the opportunity for help when they need it. I also just last July returned from a mission for the church during which I served for 2 years is Cape Verde, which is an african island country off the west coast of Senegal. There I was able to teach people of Christ's true Gospel, and help them come unto Christ through obedience to these principles. It was the most incredible experience, and I loved every minute of it. The Lord has truly blessed me through the opportunity I had to serve his humble people of Cape Verde. There are plenty of opportunities that we are presented with to serve in this church, and it just makes you feel good! Helping other people always makes you smile. Daily study of the Lord's scriptures is something that has helped me throughout my whole life. I don't think a lot of people understand the power that comes through daily study of the Bible, and the Book of Mormon. These words give me the strength that I need to be able to live my life according to the principles and commandments the Lord has laid out for me. It fills my life with light, and always takes precedence over my studying for school! And i credit daily scripture study for a lot of the success that I have in my schooling.
