Hi I'm Aimee

I am a student and BYU, I love to travel, and I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I am a junior at Brigham Young University in the nursing program and I spent last fall living in London. In my spare time I enjoy playing the piano and guitar, reading, and doing anything involving design or art. I like to bake, travel to new places, and be outdoors. I believe in dreaming big and then working hard. I know the most important things in life always involve the people around you.

Why I am a Mormon

I am a Mormon because there is nothing that makes me happier than this gospel. Though I have had the gospel my whole life I still had to work and gain my own personal testimony of its truthfulness. I know this church is true with all my heart; I have felt it over and over again as I have read the Book of Mormon and prayed to my Father in Heaven. There is not a doubt in my mind that he lives, knows each person individually, and cares about our life. His love is infinite and eternal. Proof of that is all around us if we will just stop and notice. This world is beautiful and there is so much to be grateful for. I have prayed and come to a knowledge of Jesus Christ; he is my eldest brother, Savior, Redeemer, and closest friend. I know that he loved me enough to leave his throne with God and come to this fallen world because he was the only one who could pay the price of my sins and make it possible for me to return to our Father. Knowing that he suffered all for me provides me with confidence in myself and purpose in life. He is my anchor when times get hard because I know he understands perfectly and is always there. Understanding that every one of us was individually worth our perfect Savior's suffering, bleeding from every pore, and dying on the cross is a powerful thing to carry with you. I am a Mormon because this gospel is one of truth and one of hope. This gospel is about improving and learning, not about being perfect. It keeps me looking to the future while finding meaning and joy in the present. This life is a wonderful gift from our loving Father in Heaven and this gospel is the best part of my life.

How I live my faith

I live my faith by not only attending church on Sunday but keeping what I hear and feel in my heart through the week as well. I pray throughout the day to my Father in Heaven and read his words to me in the scriptures and through modern prophets. Communicating with him helps me to feel at peace and not stress the small things in life. The scriptures give me guidance and fill me with peace in the present and hope for the future. I live my faith by praying daily for opportunities to serve those around me and be a force for what is good and true in the world. I try to recognize the hand of God working in my life and thank him for all the blessings he gives to me. I also live my faith by being an example of the believers. I try my hardest to let my testimony and love for the Savior show through my actions. It's my goal to live in a way that no one has to wonder if I know this gospel is true for myself and love it with all my heart. I stand as a witness of God at all times in hopes that others around me will have the courage and faith to do so as well.

Mormons believe Jesus Christ is their Savior. Why do we need a Savior?

Aimee
We need a Savior because we are not perfect. God, however, is. Therefore he must be just. He created us in His image and gave us this time on Earth as a time for us to learn to live His laws and be worthy to live with Him forever. The Savior and his Atonement provide the miracle of forgiveness in our lives. Jesus Christ is the only person to ever live a pure, sinless life. He suffered for all our sins, pains, and afflictions in the Garden of Gethsemane and on the cross to appease the demands of justice. When God allowed his perfect son to do that for us it was an act of mercy and deep love. He truly loves us and wants us to be able to live with Him again. The Savior provided a way for us to repent and be clean of our sins so that we can keep moving forward in life and one day return to our home in Heaven. Without his sacrifice there would be no redemption for us and no hope in life. We can use the Atonement by confessing our wrongs to God and to those we harmed, asking for forgiveness, repairing the damage done, and then doing all that is within our power to not sin again. Every time we sincerely repent we will be forgiven as long as we are trying our best to keep the commandments. Show more Show less
