Hi I'm Paula Rail

I live in So. California. I am a wife and I love to travel to the various places my ancestors are from. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I am a retired music teacher. I taught K-8 band, classroom music, choir, strings, and jazz band. I love playing the French Horn and still teach French Horn lessons. My hobby is doing Family History. I have been working on finding my family since I was 18. I have traveled to various places my ancestors are from in the United States, Canada and Germany. I look forward to someday traveling to the British Isles, Denmark, Netherlands and France. As I have traveled to these places it has brought a closeness to my ancestors and more understanding of who they were and what their lives were like. By traveling I have also discovered distant relatives.

Why I am a Mormon

I am a Mormon because I have come to know that The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints is the only true Church on the earth. This knowledge began when I was 15. I was attending Seminary, which is a religion class where teenagers are taught about the Scriptures and how to live their life in following the commandments of God. This class is taught in our area before school. During one class the teacher taught that we could lose the influence of the Holy Ghost if we didn't follow God's commandments. As she taught that to us it pricked my heart. I wondered if the Holy Ghost had influenced me and had I lost the influence of the Holy Ghost. It bothered me all day at school. By the end of the day I determined to get down on my knees and ask God if He lived after everyone in the house was asleep. So that night I did just that. I got on my knees and prayed. It was a short prayer but, I asked Heavenly Father if he lived and closed it in the name of Jesus Christ. Amen. I waited then laid down in my bed. I pondered what I had just done when a most sacred experience happened that confirmed that God does live and that The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints is true. This was the beginning of many other experiences which again has confirmed to me that the Church and its teachings are true. That is why I am a Mormon.

How I live my faith

I try to put Heavenly Father and Jesus Christ as the center of my life. I do this by praying, studying the scriptures to learn about them and serving Heavenly Father's children. My service has been mainly serving the women in the church, in the Temple and Missionary Service. Recently my service has been to my mother as her health has been declining. This has been the most difficult of all and yet through this process of serving her I have drawn closer to her than I have my whole life. I have been able to assist her in drawing closer to Heavenly Father and Jesus Christ and that has been very rewarding.
