Hi I'm Gilly

I'm English. I love singing and patchwork and quilting. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I discovered that I could sing when I was 11. I took singing lessons including a spell at the Birmingham School of music. When I was 18, I wrote to the English National Opera company and was invited to an audition. They told me I was too young and to keep singing and re-apply when I was older. In addition to singing I love to sew, mainly patchwork and quilting. I love to design my own quilts. I'm a Mom with two grown up children and a wonderful husband and three beautiful cats.

Why I am a Mormon

All my life I had been searching for the truth. I had attended many different Churches but never found it. I went in prayer to my Heavenly Father and asked him not to send anyone unless he sent me the truth. Four years later the missionaries knocked my door. The missionary told me about the first vision of the prophet Joseph Smith and the restoration of the gospel. I knew I had found the true church of Christ. As I have walked the gospel path my testimony has grown and grown.

How I live my faith

Each morning I study the Book of Mormon, which fills me with the spirit and this sets me up for the day. Every Sunday I attend Church, which fills me with great joy. At present, I work with the Primary children and it's great fun teaching the children about Gospel principles. I organised a group of us to make blankets for the Linus project and the 2012 Olympics in London. Each month I visit some of the sisters and help them to understand the Gospel and help with any of their needs.

What are Mormon temples used for?

Gilly
The temple is a house of God. The most sacred of all buildings. Temples have always been built by the Lords people. The Lord commanded Joseph Smith the prophet to once again build temples. God dwells in his house, it is a place of learning and prayer. In the temple we can participate in ordinances that bind families together for time and eternity and help them back to the presence of God our Eternal Father. These ordinances are for the living and the dead who did not have the opportunity whilst in mortality. Show more Show less
