Hi I'm Sister Phelps

I was born in China. I'm serving a mission for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. I love my family! I am a Mormon.

About Me

I was adopted from China when I was 5. Lived in Thailand for most of my life! I love music and playing the violin. I love being active and swimming. I love traveling, especially in Asia. One of my dreams is to explore the world. I love being in and learning about different cultures. I like reading, cooking, singing, and doing fun things with my family and friends. I studied at Brigham Young University-Idaho for a semester before coming to Taiwan, Taipei for my 18 month mission for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. I LOVE the gospel and the lessons, opportunities, and experiences I've had throughout the years I've been a Latter-day Saint. I know that this Church is true. I know that ANYONE can receive a witness of it's truthfulness. ANYONE! I LOVE my mission here in Taiwan, Taipei. I love helping and seeing children of God change and come closer unto Him. It brings me THE greatest JOY!

Why I am a Mormon

I am a mormon because, I have read, prayed, asked, had faith, and strived to come unto Christ. It's a process. I love how Elder Bednar explains how people gain testimonies/faith. Some people are quick to have a testimony (like an on and off switch) and some have testimonies that come slower (like a sunrise). I have had and seen many miracles in my life, that have truly blessed and strengthened my testimony. The important thing, is to recognize these miracles in our lives. I KNOW that everyday the Lord sends us blessings and miracles. We just need to look up and open our eyes. Some people say: "Count your blessings". It's the same thing. I am a mormon because this gospel brings me ultimate joy, peace, comfort, support, and happiness. Ever since my mom taught me that I had a loving Heavenly Father and Savior Jesus Christ who loves me, I just felt that that was UNDOUBTEDLY true. My first prayer was: "Jesus Christ loves me. Jesus Christ wants to hug me." I know that He still does. Even through the hard times come, I know that the Lord is watching over me. That he will never leave me alone if I am choosing the right. That's his promise to each and every one of us (His sons and daughters). One of the things I love about being an LDS is that, no matter WHERE you live, the first time you go to church, you automatically have friends. Everywhere you go, it will always and still feel like a big family. You make many connections in the Church. We truly are ONE BIG FAMILY.

How I live my faith

Growing up in the Church, I've been able to participate in fun and uplifting callings. Through these callings, I can look back and see what I have grown, gained, and learned. I've helped in the young women's group (ages 12-18). In this calling, I have gained greater love for each and every one of those girls. I can truly see all of them as great and noble daughters of God. I also have gained a greater appreciating for the leaders of the Church through this calling. Another calling was being the librarian. I love serving people and doing all that I can to help others around me. Also, reading and learning church doctrine has strengthened my testimony of this gospel. I know it's true. I've read the Book of Mormon, I've prayed, I've asked, and I got my answer. I love talking about the gospel to my friends that are non-LDS. I don't know everything, but I try to answer all of the questions that they have. Probably the biggest way of how I live my faith is through my example. Through how I treat, react, and respond to those around me. Be caring, loving, kind, humble, nonjudgmental, etc. and viewing everyone around me as a son or daughter of God at least do my best. I know I'm not perfect. Another way of how I live my faith is by SERVING my Savior Jesus Christ and giving Him ALL that I've got for 18 months. In helping teaching, blessing, and changing these wonderful people of Taiwan to truly come to KNOW of their Father in Heaven and Savior Jesus Christ.
