Hi I'm Natalie

I am a senior in college. I am the oldest of 3 kids and I love theater, ukulele, ice cream and sunshine. I am a Mormon!

About Me

I grew up in Maryland with my parents and my two younger siblings. I was homeschooled growing up, which gave me the opportunity to follow my interests and get excited about learning. My parents met while doing community theater, and they passed their love of the stage down to me. Dancing, music, costumes, acting in plays or being an audience member--I love all of it. Right now I am a student studying advertising and English. School can be pretty stressful but I love it at the same time. When I'm not crazy busy with homework, I enjoy reading Harry Potter and watching old movies and baking banana bread. And eating ice cream. In 2015 I took a break from school to serve as a full-time missionary in California. I went to serve people in the community and teach them about Jesus Christ.

Why I am a Mormon

To put it simply, the Gospel of Jesus Christ brings me happiness. I'm not talking about the kind of happiness I might get from winning at monopoly or acing a test or going on a fancy vacation. I am talking about eternal joy. The joy of knowing that I can be with my family for all of eternity. The joy of knowing that God is my Heavenly Father, that I am his actual daughter, and that he knows me personally and loves me infinitely. The joy that comes from knowing that I have a Savior, Jesus Christ, who died for ME so that I can return to live with him someday. Because I am a Mormon I know who I am. I know where I came from and where I am going and why God put me on this Earth. It gives every day meaning and purpose. And even when life gets challenging, I know that I can turn to Jesus Christ who loves me and gives me the strength to keep pushing forward.

How I live my faith

Every day is a chance to come closer to God and his son Jesus Christ, and it is the small and simple things that help me do this. Things like prayer, reading from the Book of Mormon (a book of scripture that teaches about Jesus Christ,) and spending time with the people I love. I try to show my love for others by finding little ways to serve the people around me. In my church congregation I get to teach a lesson to the women once a month. It is something I was asked to do as a volunteer, and I love it so much! The lessons are usually focused on a gospel topic from the scriptures, and I lead discussions with the class about how we can apply what the scriptures teach into our lives. I learn so much from what the other women share about their life experiences and their own personal relationships with the Savior.

Do Mormons worship Joseph Smith?

We do not worship Joseph Smith, only God and Jesus Christ. But just like many people show respect and admiration for the prophets of the old testament, we too respect and admire Joseph Smith as a prophet. Through his discipleship, Heavenly Father was able to restore his Gospel to the earth once more. Joseph Smith was incredibly faithful and obedient to God. During his life, he faced much opposition and was constantly under verbal and sometimes physical attack for what he was doing to follow God. For this reason we especially admire his example of faith and perseverance and everything that he was able to accomplish. Show more Show less
