Hi I'm Colby Thornton

I'm a Mormon. I have graduated high school and am leaving on September 3rd to go to the mtc.

About Me

My name is Colby and I am very active in sports. I have gained the rank of eagle scout and my eagle project was donating used bikes some friends and I restored to an elementary school. I also restored my rusted BMX down to the frame so I have the knowledge to fix bikes. My favorite project I did was during my sophomore and junior year when my grandpa and I restored a 1987 Mitsubishi pick up truck. That was one of the best experiences I had during high school. As you can tell I love to figure things out and I hope I can apply that to the mission field. One more thing you should know about me is I have a twin brother that has tested me my whole life on how to deal with un cooperative people.

Why I am a Mormon

I am a Mormon because I was born into the religion. My mom is a Mormon and so is my dad and because of that I was naturally supposed to with them to church. I went to church with them my whole life but I never really knew why I went. I went to sacrament meeting and knew why I took the sacrament but that was all I really knew. When I was about 16 I went to a program called EFY and on the day called testimony day it all came at once to me. People in my company started to bearing their testimonies and all of a sudden boom I wanted to bear mine. At that point and time I bore my testimony very rarely but for some reason I needed to. I stood up at the same time as another person in my company and let them go first but did not dare sit back down because if did I probably would not get up again. I bore my testimony that day on the plan of happiness and how I knew I would see my passed away cousin again. That day I knew the church was true and I am a proud lds member.

How I live my faith

My priests quorum president who is my bishop is someone I look up to very much. Just knowing him two years feels like I have known him for ten. Every Sunday for church and everyday Thursday for activities I get to see the example he sets for me. In church I participate in the blessing, preparing, and passing the sacrament. Also I am chosen sometimes to talk in church. When fast offerings are sent out I like to volunteer to take them out when there are not enough deacons to take them out. I also have done home teaching in the past but I haven't been to good at doing it.
