Hi I'm Melissa

I'm a snowboarder, a photographer, an artists, a wife, a mother, and most importantly I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I am a wife and mother to two small children. We just finished college after years of work and now we are going to continue our education with a graduate program. I love snowboarding with my husband, I have a small photography studio that I enjoy so much, and love art. I love spending time with my family and friends, reading books, learning new things, especially instruments.

Why I am a Mormon

I have been around the church for years and it took my a long time to have a true testimony of this church. For the longest time I just saw how happy it made my family and the people around me. I saw how it helped them make good choices for themselves and their loved ones. I wanted that. I was a member and saw how it helped me be a better person. Over the years my testimony grew as I came to understand the teachings better and the scriptures more. Though I was a member at first because of the happiness I felt from the church... I am a member now because I have taken the time to learn the gospel, read the doctrine, and prayed and studied for myself about these truth. I am a member of this church because I know it is Christ's church, it teaches His truths, and it will bring me eternal happiness.

How I live my faith

I have the wonderful opportunity to teach the Gospel Principle class in my ward. I love having the chance to study and teach our basic faith and important doctrine to new and investigating members. I get the chance every Sunday to bring a lesson to church that might help someone learn and feel the truth about Christ's love for them and see the happiness that comes from having the fullness of the gospel. It has been a wonderful experience and a huge testimony building experience for me.

Are Mormons Christians?

Being a Mormon is to be a Christian. The foundation of our church is Christ. His love for us, His sacrifice for us, and His faith in us is the most important thing about our church. Without Christ, we would have no church. Show more Show less

How are modesty and chastity related? How can parents teach their children to be modest in dress, language and behavior?

I am so thankful for the knowledge of modesty and chastity. I know how important my body is and what an amazing gift it was from my Heavenly Father. And as a gift, I need to take care of it. I dress in a way that does not show off my body. I refrain from activities that would use my body in a unpleasing way. My husband and I both understood the importance of being clean till we were married. I am thankful that I know these things that I can teach them to my children. We try to help our children understand our bodies are gift and each body is special. That we need to take care of them and respect them. Show more Show less
