Hi I'm Lucila

I'm a grad student in school counseling. I'm a spelling bee enthusiast. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

Right now I am studying to become a school counselor, which has been an awesome experience. I also work with students who don't know a lot of English in a high school. In the education world they would say ESL or ELL students. It's a joy for me to associate with these students everyday. I admire their courage and persistence in achieving despite the challenges that they have with the English language. My husband and I have recently discovered that we are expecting a baby sometime in October of this year. I cannot express the joy that I feel! We are both so thrilled to become parents. In the business of life, I haven't really managed to keep of with the things I like to do. I'm an artist wannabe. I want to learn how to draw, paint, play more musical instruments and improve my voice. There is nothing more satisfying to me when I get to create something beautiful out the things that God has provided for us. During the summer I love being outdoors and hiking new trails. I'm not extreme by any means, but I am up for a good adventure when I see one.

Why I am a Mormon

I love my Savior and His gospel. I don't know where I would be without the truths that I love and hold so dear to my heart. I know that we can find true joy and happiness through the teachings of Jesus Christ. I know that there are living prophets today who receive modern day revelation to help us know how to live the gospel to the best of our ability. I know that they are truly receive this inspiration and revelation directly from Heavenly Father. I know that we can be with our loved ones again after this life. I'm so grateful for the temple where I can go and learn more about what the Lord has in store for me. I love the scriptures, especially the Book of Mormon. I know that as I have studied it that I have felt the Lord's presence stronger in my life. Being a mormon has been such a blessing in my life and I know that it can be for you too! :)

How I live my faith

My husband and I have attended our married student ward for about a month now. We've been getting to know the members there and have loved it! I'm a visiting teacher, which basically means that I am assigned to care for specific women in my ward. It's basically an opportunity to reach out and serve the sisters in my ward. I think that sometimes we can get too wrapped up in our own little snow globe that we don't take the time to notice the needs of those around us. I'm grateful for the opportunities that the Lord has given me to reach out and help my brothers and sisters. When I was 21 years old, I chose to serve a 18 month mission for the church. It was the most incredible and trying experiences that I've had. It has shaped me into the person that I am today. I was able to serve the people of Santiago Chile. There isn't a day that goes by that I'm not reminded by the lessons that I learned while on my mission.
