Hi I'm Becca

I may have been born in the church, but I had to find the gospel for myself. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I was born in the church, but my parents got divorced when I was very young and my family became inactive in the church. When I was 16 I moved from living with my mom to with my dad and then find some great friends that helped me get back into the gospel. I'm currently going to college and have been married for 7 months. The best day of my life was when I was sealed to my husband for all time and eternity. Lately I've been trying to relearn the flute, go camping, hiking, and backpacking more, and improve on my cooking skills.

Why I am a Mormon

I may have been born in the church, but I wasn't raised in the gospel. My family went through a really hard time when my parents got divorced and just stopped going to church. I was so young at the time I didn't even notice a difference. When I was 12 years old I was invited to go to girls camp and spend a week with some wonderful sisters and learn the gospel. I went to girls camp every year even though the rest of the year I didn't attend church. When I was 16 I moved in with my dad along with my little sister. I decided that I wanted to give the church a try. I started by going to sacrament. I was lucky enough to have a dad that would go to this church meeting with me even though he wasn't interested in the church anymore. I missed a lot of Sundays because I didn't want to go to church alone. Eventually I made some really strong connections in the church and found that I really loved the gospel. I don't know anywhere else where I can find the peace and happiness that I have found there. I knew that the teachings were true I had an amazing bishop and young women leader who helped me a lot. When I was later married in the temple this leader of mine was able to be with me through the process, when my mom couldn't. I love the church and the gospel. I know that I am a daughter of Heavenly Father and that he loves me and he loves you too.

How I live my faith

I try to live my faith in the way that I interact with people. There are so may ways to bring other people down and I just want to see others the way Christ sees them. My husband and I are currently emergency preparedness coordinators in our ward. Its a really great calling for us. We trying to get our whole ward to have 72 hour kits and be prepared for anything that could come our way. One thing that I've recently discovered a love for is visiting some of the sisters in my ward. Its a really great way to build a support system. Being a newly wed I feel like I try to spend the small amount of free time I have with my husband. Just a few weeks ago I as able to visit a couple girls from the ward and found that I really enjoyed getting to know new people and relate to their experiences. Its crazy that I had never talked to these girls before and yet we ended up talking for 2 plus hours.
