Hi I'm Emily

I grew up in Kennewick. I am a stay-at-home mom of 3. I love biology, reading, and slurpees. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

Hi, I'm Emily. I grew up on a small farm as the youngest of four kids. I've always really enjoyed science and learning about the world around me. I went to school and got my degrees in Molecular Biology and Chemistry. I spent time working on ecology research and microbial genetics until my first son was born. Now I spend my days keeping my husband and kids busy and alive. In my spare time I enjoy reading books, visiting with extended family, playing video games with my kids, and exercising.

Why I am a Mormon

I am a Mormon because I love the gospel of Jesus Christ. When I read the scriptures it helps me feel peace and calm in my busy hectic life. When I attend the temple I feel strength and desire to be a better person. When I pray to God I feel his love for me, which helps me get through the challenges of life. When I have my family around me I feel the truth of eternal families. Over the years there have been times when I have been full of doubt and times when I have been full of faith. As I try to be close to my Father in Heaven and my Savior I feel the doubt leave and the faith return. I am a Mormon because it keeps me close to God and my Savior.

How I live my faith

I find it helps me remember my faith when I immerse myself in church-related activities. I get to work with the young women in our ward, specifically the 16-18 year old girls. On Sundays I get to give them a lesson for about an hour. On Wednesday evenings I get together with them to do a spiritual or educational activity. These girls teach me a lot about how to have a great attitude and enthusiasm for life. I also play the organ to accompany the hymns during our church meeting. I have a good time playing, but my husband kind of dreads having to handle our three kids by himself for the meeting.
