Hi I'm Elder Latey

I'm a Missionary for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day-Saints

About Me

I am a missionary for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, currently serving in the Utah, Salt Lake City West Mission. I went on this mission not because my parents told me too, and definitely not because people expected me to. I went on this mission because this Gospel, the gospel of Jesus Christ, has given me so much joy in my life, and I want to help others feel that joy. Not only that, but this Gospel can help people feel like they have a purpose in life, it certainly has for me. Before my mission, I played violin for about 12 years. I absolutely LOVE music, and I love the way you can praise God through music. I hope to never stop playing music no matter where my life takes me! I also love playing basketball, although I wouldn't say I am very good at it. Still, I am a very competitive person and love to play against friends no matter whether I win or lose! I also loved to code in Java and write fantasy novels, though those both were more hobbies than anything else. Before my mission, I also had a part-time job, and I would definitely suggest to any teenager to get a job, as it helps you really learn how to work hard. Plus, because of it, I paid off 40% of my mission by myself! So seriously, having a part-time job can be really helpful and teach you a lot of different things! All in all though, I am so grateful for this opportunity to serve God as one of his missionaries, and I cannot think of any place I'd rather be!

Why I am a Mormon

I am a Mormon because I have personally seen the blessings that come from following this Gospel. One of my friends went to this Church, God's church, with me. (Due to family issues, she could not attend later on) Regardless, I saw how her life made a complete turn around. She was happier, more sure of herself, and it was a testament to me that through Christ, all can change! In my own life, I am much happier than my peers, and much more focused on my goals, and I attribute both of these qualities to being a Mormon, for the gospel gives me a purpose to do my very best! I am so grateful for this gospel in my life! I would never be the same without it!

How I live my faith

I live my faith every day! Even before I went on this mission, I did my very best to follow Christ's example. Sure, I am not perfect, and I will be the first person to admit that, but I still did my best. Because I did this, I felt a rich abundance of peace and love from God that is difficult to describe, but worth every moment of difficulty. During this mission, I am doing my very best to love everyone as the Savior did, and because God will help us if we follow Him, I have seen so many blessings of help towards my goals!
