Do you want to chat with a missionary?

We are happy to answer any questions you may have.

Hi I'm Bri Crook (:

I am a full time missionary for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, I love music, and I'm a Mormon!!

About Me

I am the oldest child of four children- one younger brother, two younger sisters, and a dog named Sadie. My mom is a teacher and my dad works for a computer company. I like to swim. I can play all of the woodwind instruments and jazz and classical piano, though my main instrument is the oboe. I've been playing piano for 12 years and studying oboe for 7 years. I love to play in wind ensembles, small chamber groups, as well as symphony orchestras. I have performed as principal oboist in Seattle, Anaheim, and all over the country of Costa Rica, and have performed with various performing groups on Temple Square, Salt Lake City. I have a bit of recording experience, and I've had the opportunity to record in the Disney studios in California. I have a goal to be the principal oboist in the Orchestra at Temple Square. I spent my first year of college studying music education before I decided to serve a mission. I love the gospel and am currently serving as a full time missionary in the China, Hong Kong mission. I am studying the Cantonese language before heading out to teach and serve the wonderful people of Hong Kong!

Why I am a Mormon

I was born into this gospel, as both of my parents are active members of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. I have been taught the gospel all of my life, but I have come to a knowledge for myself that this church is the true church! I know that the Prophet Joseph Smith was a true prophet and that he restored the gospel to the latter days. I know that the Lord sent his Son Jesus Christ to suffer in Gethsemane for me, so I could live with Him again. I know that the blessings of the temple are real, and that families can be together forever. I love this gospel! I also have a testimony of the Book of Mormon. I know that the words in that book are true, and that God will answer us if we pray to Him in faith.

How I live my faith

I love to serve others, even if it just means giving a smile to someone in need. I live my faith by learning to preach the wonderful Gospel of Jesus Christ, both in English and in Cantonese. Often times living your faith doesn't just mean reading your scriptures or saying prayers. It can be lived through your actions as well as your thoughts. I know that I live my faith through serving others and keeping a positive attitude toward anything that comes my way. Currently, I'm a full-time missionary and live my faith every day by studying scriptures and the language I will share the gospel in.

Do Mormons only help Mormons?

Bri Crook (:
Mormons do not only help Mormons! The Mormon church is very big on service and being Christ like. Did Christ only serve the people who were perfect like unto himself? Absolutely not!! Christ loved and served everyone, from the leper to the adulterer, to his own mother. The Mormons have aided in lots of different humanitarian projects and in many different countries, filled with all sorts of people and all types of religion. Show more Show less

Why was a Restoration of the Gospel needed? Haven’t we always had the Bible?

Bri Crook (:
After Christ was crucified on Calvary, his apostles continued to preach until eventually they all died. That's called "The Great Apostasy", where Jesus Christ's true church and teachings were no longer on the earth. When the apostles all died, there was no one left to pass on Christ's Priesthood authority. One day in the early 1800's, a young boy named Joseph Smith read James 1:5 and prayed to know which of the churches was true. Jesus Christ and God the Father appeared to him and through him restored Christ's true gospel to the earth. Joseph Smith restored all of the true gospel back to the earth. He brought back all of the ordinances that were on the earth at the time of Christ's mortal ministry. Show more Show less
