Hi I'm Sister Whitney Reid

I'm a blogger. I'm a citrus fruit lover. I'm a missionary in the Florida Orlando Mission. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I grew up in Utah and I competed the sport of power tumbling for 10 years. I have competed in many competitions including 7 State Championships, 4 Regional Championships, and 3 Jr. Olympic National Championships. I now work as a recreational and competitive tumbling coach and I love it! I play guitar and like to pretend I'm a famous country singer although I can't sing to save my life. I am a lover of all things citrus fruit. If it makes you pucker, I'll eat it! I am a photographer and a graphic design wannabe. I have an obsession with journals, and a love for yellow things. I love ice cream and hate tomatoes. I am a fan of Disney Channel Original Movies. I am a writer and a devote blogger. I am the author of the blog feelmysunlight.blogspot.com. I love the Church of Jesus Christ of Later Day Saints and I have been called to serve in the Florida Orlando mission!

Why I am a Mormon

I was born into a family that is strong in the gospel. I grew up attending primary and learning about the church at a very young age. I didn't ever question if it was true or not because it was all that I knew. Growing up I strongly relied on other people's testimonies to know that the church was the true church. It wasn't until I became a teenager that I started to want to know for myself if The Church of Jesus Christ was the true church. When I was 14 I was encouraged by someone I looked up to a lot to find out for myself if the Church was true. That night I read Moroni 10:3-5 that tells us that if we ask with real intent, we may know the truth of all things. After I read that I knelt and prayed asking to know for myself if this was the true church. I was overcome by a subtle feeling of peace. I knew that this was the true church and that I was following on the right path. Since then I have had many experiences where my testimony has been tried. I have had to stand up for my beliefs, and hold onto my faith even when times are hard. I have learned that while sometimes you stand alone in your beliefs, you are never alone because God is always there. I continue to follow Christ's church because It is the most rewarding thing I have ever been a part of. I continue to follow His gospel because I have a testimony of its truthfulness. I continue to follow Christ's gospel because I know it, I live it, and I love it.

How I live my faith

In high school I served on the seminary council at our school. Seminary is a class run by the LDS church where youth get to learn more about the gospel during release time periods from school. It is held in a building adjacent from the school and I call it my happy place. For students outside of Utah Seminary is held in the mornings before school. My roll as a member of Seminary Council was to work with teachers and other youth to help plan seminary activities, help make seminary a fun place to be, and to help other students come unto Christ. I also served in my ward as Laurel Class President. The "Laurels" are girls from age 16-18. I serve as the president and I work with the girls in our ward by planning activities, being their friend, and serving those who need help. For the my last year in high school I also served as a Family History Consultant. I help teach others about family history work and I help motivate others to learn more about their ancestors. I find names of my deceased ancestors that need work done in the temple, and I help others do the same. It is a very fun experience and I enjoy helping people learn that Genealogy isn't just for old people. It's for everyone! I have been called to serve a mission in the Florida Orlando mission! As a missionary I will leave my family and the life I know in Utah to dedicate eighteen months of my life to serve God and his children in Orlando, Florida. I will teach people the gospel and share my testimony of my Savior, Jesus Christ in hopes that others will be able to come to know of the happiness that the gospel brings. I can't wait to serve!
