Hi I'm Damon Brown

Raised in Northern California, I have 3 kids, 1 beautiful wife & a golf handicap too high for bragging. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I'm just a normal guy with great kids and a wonderful wife. I enjoy woodworking, golf and most things outdoors.

Why I am a Mormon

Though raised in this faith, my parents taught me that in order to live it, I had to learn for myself that the core principles of the LDS faith were true. Like any person, I had questions, doubts & even some concerns about the role God could play in my seemingly small and insignificant life. What I did know, as if it was part of my genetic/physical make-up, was that God did exist. Following the counsel of my parents and friends I chose to ask God directly whether the principles that I had been taught had come from Him. I didn't have any kind of grand or extreme experience. Instead, I felt a calm reassurance that He knew who I was and that He loved me. Then, now empowered with this knowledge, I was able to ask in sincere prayer about many of the points of doctrine that I had been taught. I asked to know whether the Holy Bible and the Book of Mormon were truly holy scripture. I asked whether God and His son had really answered the prayer of a teenage Joseph Smith. I asked if He had really restored his priesthood and Church on the earth. Then, I asked if the sacrifice and atonement provided by His son, Jesus, really applied to me. In all cases, my prayers were answered in the affirmative. Not by a booming voice from heaven....not by a heavenly messenger. Instead, I felt peace and comfort in my heart. The feeling was not like any other I had felt in any other life experiences. That feeling has manifested itself many times over the years since those first answered prayers and have built upon my now unwavering testimony that yes, God Lives. His son, Jesus Christ lives. The healing power of the Atonement is real. Joseph Smith really was a prophet of God. These, and the many truths that have been made know to me since then, have been a source of peace, comfort & joy in my life. The guiding principles of Christ's restored Gospel have provided a firm foundation that has seen me through innumerable trials of life & help me understand my place in His eternal plan.

How I live my faith

I live my faith by doing everything I can to follow the example of the Savior. He never compromised....He never stopped serving...He never looked for reasons or excuse to fall short of the role his Father had for him. So, I do my best to do the same. I can't claim the perfection He achieved, but I can say I do my best to follow his guidance. I am thankful that, just as existed in ancient times, the fullness of Christ's gospel and church have been restored and that His priesthood is once again on the earth to bless the lives of all children of God. I try to see each person as just that....a child of God. If He can love them the way they are, then so can I. I can say with total honesty and conviction that significant joy and satisfaction has been mine when providing service in my Ward congregation as well as my community.
