Hi I'm Spencer

I grew up in Utah. I'm a missionary in Detroit, Michigan. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I enjoy reading, playing basketball, and music. I am an eagle scout and have completed a year of college. I hope to be able to attend BYU Hawaii, and later BYU Provo. I have traveled and seen many different places, including; Rome, Athens, Monte Carlo, Mexico, and Guatemala.

Why I am a Mormon

I was raised in the church, but at the age of 14 I didn't know why I was doing any of it. I felt like my parents wanted me to be active in the church, but I didn't know it was true. I had always heard of these amazing spiritual moments, when people just knew right then that the church was true. I was looking for my moment that hadn't come, and because I trusted my parents I followed the path they set for me. This went on for several months, I was studying and praying, searching for that moment, but after all that time I got discouraged. I lost my will to do the things I was supposed to, but I read in Alma 32 where faith is compared to a seed. I had read this scripture many times, and was quite familiar with it, but at that instant I realized that there wasn't meant to

How I live my faith

I have always been very involved in my ward. I have been in various leadership roles in my youth groups, and served in the Special Needs program. I am currently serving as a missionary for 2 years, for the opportunity to share my faith with others.

Are Mormons Christians?

Spencer
We are Christians, we strive daily to become stronger through, and develop a more personal relationship with our Savior, Jesus Christ. We recognize the healing, and growing power of His atonement. We pray in his name, and work our hardest every day to become like Him. Show more Show less

What is the priesthood?

Spencer
The priesthood is the authority given to man, to act in God's name. Jesus Christ established his church and gave the apostles that authority. Like the gospel this authority has been restored in latter days. The priesthood is used to; officiate in church callings, preform ordinance like baptism, and for the blessing of the sick. The priesthood is always used to bless the lives of others, for example a priesthood holder that is sick cannot bless himself he must ask another priesthood holder to do so for him. God uses this power and responsibility that he has given to men to help them learn, grow, and be uplifted. As a priesthood holder you are expected, by God, to follow the example of Jesus Christ and serve with humility, love, gentleness, diligence, and kindness. Show more Show less

Who wrote the Book of Mormon?

Spencer
The Book of Mormon: Another Testament of Jesus Christ, was written by many prophets who lived in the America's anciently. It spans over a thousand years of history and focuses on the teachings and prophecies from God. It consists primarily of a single family guided to the American continent by the power of God around the time of the Old Testament prophets; Jeremiah and Daniel (600 BC). The records were handed down from every generation, until they were entrusted to the prophet Mormon (Approx. 350 AD). The records were vast, containing a thousand years of history, so Mormon was commanded to take the most important and precious truths within those records, and to compile them into a single book that would be brought forth in the last days. Through earnest study and sincere prayer, I have come to know of it's truth. The promise to those who study, and pray about, The Book of Mormon, with true conviction and intent, is that the Spirit of God will manifest the truth of it to them. Show more Show less
