Hi I'm Annette

I am from the United States. I am the mother of one. I work as an accountant. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I am a busy mother of one teenager. I work as an accountant. I enjoy going on walks. I also enjoy watching documentaries, mostly in genres that include history and science. I also enjoy reading biographies of amazing people who can inspire me to live a better life.

Why I am a Mormon

I was raised as a Mormon. Since I was raised as a Mormon, I believe the question I must ask myself is "why am I still a Mormon?" I believe that this church offers all the truth. There are so many wonderful churches out there in the world that teach people about Jesus Christ and they are doing many good things. As a Mormon, though, I believe I have more. Our church is directed by a living prophet who receives revelation from our Lord, Jesus Christ. Perhaps this sounds like a foreign concept to many of you, but to members of our church, we believe it or even know it. I know that we have a living prophet and Jesus Christ is actively giving all of us directions. How do I know this? I know this because I receive revelation from my Heavenly Father through the Holy Ghost that this is true. It is from the promptings received from the Holy Ghost that I have accepted this Church as true and that is why I am a Mormon.

How I live my faith

I work a great deal with the women in my church in a women's organization called Relief Society. I love the women I associate with in Relief Society and they are a strength to me. I believe it is important to do what I can to follow the example of Jesus Christ. I find that there are always opportunities to serve my neighbors and coworkers. I have found that my best days are days when I have taken the opportunity to be of service to someone. That is one of the ways I can show my love to Jesus Christ. I also find that it is easier to live my Faith when I seek out needed help from my Heavenly Father. Prayer is an important part of my life and I do know that my prayers are heard by God and answered.

Why don’t women hold the priesthood in The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints? How do Mormon women lead in the Church?

Annette
As a woman, I can tell you that even though women do not hold the priesthood, they are equals to men in the church and do participate in many of the same activities as men that hold the priesthood. I have, many times, stood before the congregation of my church and proselyted. I have taught many classes consisting of both women and men. Both men who hold the priesthood and women are allowed to and encouraged to participate in these activities. The priesthood is not the power of man. It is defined as the power given to man from God to accomplish His (God's) purposes. A priesthood holder is not able to do anything with this power to gain status over other people or coerce others into acting according to his wishes. He is, simply, using the priesthood to do what we refer to as the work of God. Women, on the other hand, participate in a different role, although no less important. Women are able to participate in the organization for women, known as the Relief Society. Women in our church also participate in the work of God through the Relief Society in roles that are different, but equal to that of those that hold the priesthood. The Relief Society is an organization of Charity, whose motto is "Charity never Faileth." We learn how the gifts that God has given to us as women, can be used to express charity and we, as women, participate in God's plan with the men who hold the priesthood. Show more Show less
