Hi I'm Kara

I'm a college student who is serving an LDS mission in Texas. I love to learn. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I am a college student attending Utah State University, and I am still trying to figure out what to major in. I am a sophomore, and I have had three different majors since I started college. I love learning, especially math and science. I also love music; I sing and play the piano and violin. I am trying to like running, but I haven't completely succeeded in that endeavor yet. However, I did complete my first 10k this summer, which was exciting for me. I do enjoy reading and watching movies. I love traveling, and it is my dream to tour the world someday. I enjoy living in Utah, but I would like to experience living out of state, preferably in a big city. I know that the gospel of Jesus Christ has had a great influence on my life, and that is has helped me to continually work towards my goals, and it also gives me hope that I will figure things out and that life will work out in the end. I have been called to serve a mission in San Antonio Texas, so I will be serving there for the next 18 months.

Why I am a Mormon

I was born into The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. As a child I attended church because my parents did. However, through my years growing up, I began to develop my own testimony, one that was independent of the testimony's of my parents. I now have a firm testimony that Jesus Christ and God live and that they love us. I know that God is our Heavenly Father and He wants us to return to live with Him again. I know that Jesus Christ suffered and died for us, so that we could repent and be forgiven of our sins, and be resurrected, so that we could become like Him. I know that Joseph Smith was the prophet of the restoration of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, and that this church is the same as the church that Jesus Christ establish during His earthly ministry. I know that The Book of Mormon is true. I know that the prophet Joseph Smith was able to translate The Book of Mormon from golden plates through the power of God. I have read The Book of Mormon several times, and each time I do, my testimony of it is strengthened. I know President Thomas S. Monson is a prophet of God, and that he leads the church today through modern revelation from God. I know that my Heavenly Father wants me to be happy and to learn in this life. I know that through prayer I can communicate with my Father in Heaven and that He will answer me in His own way and time. I know that if I pray, study the scriptures, and follow the teachings of Jesus Christ that God will help me overcome my struggles, and that I will be able to find my purpose and what I am supposed to do in this life. I know that the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day saints is the true church upon the earth today. I love this gospel, and I know that it will bless the lives of all those who accept it.

How I live my faith

I live my faith by serving in my local ward and by trying to follow the teachings of Jesus Christ. I try to live my faith every day by saying morning and evening prayers, by studying the scriptures daily, and by trying to be open to service opportunities that may arise. I also strive to be honest and trustworthy at all times. I have had several positions in my local ward that have helped me to better learn how to organize events, as well as how to love others. Most recently, I had the opportunity of coming up with monthly activities for the members of my ward. The activities were for the purpose of getting to know each other and to have fun. I am currently living my faith by serving a full-time LDS mission, and I am very excited to learn an grow on this current adventure.
