Hi I'm Matt

I grew up in Virginia. I am going on a mission to Curitiba, Brazil. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I am a college student, soon to be on a mission. I love snowboarding, it's what I enjoy most in my free time. I enjoy driving, probably too much. Most of the time I just hang out with friends and play video games. I have a deep and abiding love for music. I've never been good at playing it though, so I content myself with discovering new bands and just enjoying all music in general. My family is incredibly important to me and I'm thankful for any time I get to spend with them.

Why I am a Mormon

I grew up in the church, so it's always been a part of my life. When I was about 14 I started examining my faith, challenging my beliefs. I try to be a pretty logical person, and for the most part I'm actually really skeptical of things. I found that I couldn't deny the positive influence the gospel had had in my life. I have gradually come to realize that I know that the Book of Mormon is true, because it brings me closer to God as it promises it will to all men. I know that Joseph Smith was a prophet of God, just as there were prophets in the ancient times. I know that Thomas S. Monson is the Lord's prophet on the earth today, and his role is to share the Lord's words with us, applicable to our latter days. I am so thankful to be a member of this church and to be able to receive joy through its teachings which bring me closer to my Savior.

How I live my faith

I taught Sunday School recently which involved preparation and really getting to know the source material for lessons. I am going on a mission in order to teach those who want to learn about the gospel and to bring people closer to Christ.

What is being a Mormon like?

It's great is basically the answer. It can be lonely at times when everyone else doesn't have the same standards you do. Being a Mormon brings joy and understanding though which I believe are two of the most important things in life. Understanding where you're from and what your potential is, is incredibly important. I think that being a Mormon helps me see who I want to become, and helps me become that person day by day. Show more Show less
