Hi I'm Jake

I'm a college student.

About Me

Many people see Mormons as living in a "bubble" in which we isolate from the world by avoiding media, entertainment, and only dating members of our faith. This is not actually the case; we embrace technology, entertainment, and dating regardless of the other person's faith, as long as our behavior stays within the bounds of our moderately high standards of conduct and morality. I am a person who enjoys all of the above as long as the activities/media are not spiritually or physically degrading. My hobbies include automobiles, finance, economics, and technology. I am currently serving a mission and growing a lot from it. I intend to continue my spiritual and secular education for the rest of my life.

Why I am a Mormon

I was born into a family that has been LDS for many generations. I am incredibly grateful for this, as the support structure for remaining active, building faith, and correcting sins is immense. Despite the prevalence of the Church in my family, I have made the decision to follow the Church on my own, independent of family pressure. Unfortunately, not everyone is blessed to be a part of an LDS family; I encourage all members to support non-members, investigators, and recent converts by answering their questions, giving service, and providing encouragement to become as close to the gospel as possible.

How I live my faith

Sometimes I am tempted to the contrary, but I always strive to attend church weekly. As an advocate of Scouting, I have been involved in the Scouting program through the Church for years. In my youth, I served in various leadership positions in the Church-chartered Venturing program (a Scouting program which focuses on high-adventure activities, career exploration, and personal development). On the more spiritual side, I served a mission in Queens and Brooklyn, New York. A mission is an incredible personal growth experience and opportunity to bless the lives of others while magnifying God's commandments.
