Hi I'm Summer Owens

I grew up in a small town in Nevada. I love being in the mountains hiking, hunting, and hanging with my family. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I grew up in the church, and love being a member. I haven't gone to college yet because they lowered the age for missionaries to go out and serve while I was in my senior year of high school and later decided that I want to serve a mission, and the age change enabled me to serve right after I graduated high school. I love being with my family. I have three sisters and we are all best friends and are always doing things together so my family is very, very close and I am so grateful for that. We love doing all sorts of things together that most people probably have never heard of, like scorpion hunting. We love going out in the mountains to hike, hunt, fish and play. We do things our way and like it that way.

Why I am a Mormon

I grew up in the church. I was baptized when I was eight years old by my dad, and as I have grown up being taught the gospel my whole life I have been able to see the blessings that come from having the fullness of the gospel in my life. Even though I don't understand everything about the church, I have never doubted that it is true. There are times when your faith is shaken, that happens to everyone, but I have always known that it is true. I know that Jesus Christ is my Savior and Redeemer. He suffered for me so that when I go through hard times he can be there with me to carry me through my trials. He has made it possible for me to be forgiven of my sins so that I can constantly grow and become better each and every day. I am so grateful for the sacrifices he has made for me, and know that only through him I can live with my Heavenly Father again someday. I know that the gospel was lost for a time, but that it was restored through Joseph Smith, and now we can enjoy the blessings of having the fullness of gospel in our lives. I know that families can be together forever, and oh how grateful I am for that. I cannot even imagine living in a place where my family isn't there. They mean so much to me and am so grateful to get to be with them through all eternity. I know that it is so important to read the scriptures and pray every day. That is how we are going to strengthen our faith the best, and learn about our Savior and his teachings. I know that the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints contains the fullness of the gospel.

How I live my faith

I am serving as a full-time missionary right now, and I love it. I love serving the people I work with and helping them strengthen their faith in our Savior Jesus Christ. Even though it is a big sacrifice giving up a 18 months to serve the Lord it is so worth it. I have learned so much about myself that I didn't know before and come to realize how much of a blessing it is to be a member of the church and I want others to have the opportunity to feel the happiness that I feel from being a part of this church. I have also learned so much about my Savior and have been able to strengthen my faith and testimony in him by reading the scriptures and praying every day.
