Hi I'm Alex de la Bruere

I'm a future missionary in South Korea. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I'm young and thus far in life have laid the groundwork for what I hope to be a happy future. Someday when I graduate from college I want to become a high-school calculus teacher and cross country coach. I really enjoy running, especially with other people. I believe that running strengthens my physical, emotional, and spiritual foundations. I run almost everyday (except for Sundays which I dedicate to my church), and I hope to be able to share this passion with a future family. During my high school years I enjoyed my academic studies as well, spending probably too much time on my homework. I developed great interest in mathematics and enjoyed building my capacity for clear thinking and reasoning. I studied both Spanish and Japanese in high school, yet I was called on a mission for my church to South Korea! I know nothing about Korean, but I am sure I will enjoy the challenge of learning it.

Why I am a Mormon

I am a Mormon because I know that God loves me and everyone else and wants us all to return to Him, and so I want to do what He wants me to do and I want to help others come to the same understanding that I have. I also know that the knowledge and practices I have learned through being a member of the Mormon church have brought me great happiness to the extent that I have applied them.

How I live my faith

In all aspects of my life, I try to do the things that I believe my Heavenly Father wants me to do. This for sure includes attending my church meetings on Sundays, studying the scriptures and praying to God on a daily basis, fasting (for spiritual purposes) monthly, and serving as a youth leader. However, there is much more to my life than just religious devotion, and so my goal is to keep in mind what I know about God's plan for others and for me in all things that I do, looking for ways to contribute to the organizations that I am a part of, finding ways to serve others in need, and aligning my activities with God's will for me. I strive to follow God's counsel as found in the scriptures and avoid sin as much as my capacities allow.
