Hi I'm Karina

I am the oldest of eight children, I love to read, I love helping others and I AM a Mormon.

About Me

I have been a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints for my entire life. My grandparents on both sides of my family are converts to the church (the missionaries taught them the discussions) and I have been so blessed to follow the example they have set for me. I am the oldest of eight children and have the awesome opportunity to follow the example my Mom has set for us. By her example I have knowledge and I am able to do laundry, clean the house, cook, etc. I love to read books, especially Nancy Drew and Hardy Boys books as well as the Book of Mormon. I love all sports but am committed to swimming and running since I have participated in those two since I was eight. I am currently a caregiver, helping those with disabilities to reach for their potential. Itis a great experience for me to realize how much Heavenly Father (God) loves all His children and a way for me to love others as well. Though I was raised from my childhood as a member of the Church I had to come to the knowledge that it truly is Christ's restored church. I did so around the age 14 and have done my best to continually grow and understand more about the gospel of Jesus Christ and Our Savior (Christ) as well. I had a strong desire to serve a full time mission for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and dedicated one and a half years in the Florida Orlando Mission. I currently am going to school to become a nurse.

Why I am a Mormon

Many friends have asked me this question. It just makes sense to me. Between junior high and high school, as I am sure other members who have grown up in the Church may have experienced, is when I began to question whether I wanted to be a member of the church. So I did a natural thing, I read the Book of Mormon. I remember my leaders always saying to read the Book of Mormon if we have any question about the truthfulness of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints being Christ's restored Church here on Earth. Why read the Book of Mormon to answer that question? The Book of Mormon is a book with a promise. Near the end of the Book of Mormon, in Moroni chapter 10 are verses 3-5 which testify that if we read the Book of Mormon (whether all or a small portion) and ponder in our hearts what we have read, that we can ask the Father through Christ (in other words...pray) to know if the Book of Mormon is true we will receive an answer. We receive this answer through the Holy Ghost who testifies of truth by feelings or thoughts. I did the above and received my witness of the truthfulness of the Book of Mormon. I know that the Book of Mormon truly is another testament of Jesus Christ, our Savior. I know that I am a daughter of God and that he loves me as well as all of his other children. I know that Joseph Smith was chosen as a prophet of God to restore Christ's church back to the Earth and translated by the power of God the Book of Mormon. Christ's church is restored back to the earth as The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. I have realized the happiness I feel with being a member of the church and the teachings of the gospel. That's why I desire others to know for themselves and be. Blessed by the gospel. These are some reasons why I Am A Mormon!

How I live my faith

I live my faith by being me. I love helping others out and almost always look for opportunities to serve others. Growing up in the church I have been able to serve in my young women's (girls from the age 12-18) group as a leader and example to the other girls. I have had the wonderful opportunity to be a teacher for a four year old children's class. I would teach the children a lesson each Sunday that helps them learn and gain knowledge of what we, as Latter-Day Saints (a.k.a. Mormons) believe in. I also was in charge of asking families if they can provide a dinner meal for the missionaries that serve us in our area. I learned on my mission that being an example to others is a great way to be a disciple of Christ. I strive to share quotes, scriptures, videos that reflect my faith, especially in my Savior, Jesus Christ! I do my best to be an example to others around me through my actions as well as sharing what I believe in. I stay true to my beliefs, even if those around me don't.
