Hi I'm Cory Gunn

I am a rocker, an outdoorsman, and I'm a Mormon

About Me

I am 19 years old, and have lived in the Salt Lake Valley my whole life. I grew up and was the black sheep of the family from the start. My older brother and sister would gang up on me, and make me do ridiculous things when i was younger, but I ended up being the Biggest out of us three. I am the youngest, and I love my siblings. I stick out like a sore thumb from my brother and sister, but they are the greatest people on the planet, and I was blessed with an awesome Brother in law, about 2 and a half years ago. Through my life i have tried all different sports. In High school i was a varsity swimmer, until i quit to go and play football my junior year. My senior year I didn't go back to football, and instead got into a band, as the bass guitarist, where we went on to win the school level Battle of the Bands, as well as regions, then went to State. I pretty much love all music. There is really nothing better than just jamming out with your best friends in the car as you drive down the street, while every one else just stares at the crazy kids as they drive by. I also love the outdoors, always have, and always will. Nobody else in my family really does, but i have always found a way to get out into the woods and do what i love most. There is no better way to get connected to Heavenly Father then to take time, put away all other distractions, and enjoy the beauty of what He has created for all of us.

Why I am a Mormon

I am a Mormon, because I have felt the power that the Gospel of Jesus Christ can bring to my life. You do not have to be a Mormon to have the Gospel in your life, but as a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints we follow the teachings that Jesus Christ himself taught while he was on the earth. We believe in modern day revelation, and more importantly personal revelation, and I received a personal witness that the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints was the Lord's restored Church on the Earth today when I was in College. Throughout my life my close friends have been older than me, and at this time most were out serving as missionaries for the church, but I myself did not have a strong testimony in the Gospel, and was not living its standards. I stopped going to church for a time, and decided that I had better things to do with my life, than to go on a mission. As I made this decision, everything in me told me to take that decision in prayer to the Lord. I did and the next morning I awoke to President Thomas S. Monson announcing that young men could serve missions at the age of 18. It was not until later that I realized the impact this had on me. I knew right then that I needed to repent and seek forgiveness, and get my life straightened out because there were people that I could help by serving a mission. I myself am now living proof that Jesus Christ is our Savior and will redeem his people. Through His gospel all may be saved!

How I live my faith

I was raised in the LDS church, so I have had plenty of opportunities to live my faith. As a young man i participated in Scouting and Young Men activities, where we did service for the community and service for members of our ward. Currently I am serving a mission in the Oregon Salem Mission and I love it. The mission has been not only an opportunity to give a little bit of time back to the Lord, but also to learn and grow more and more into the Gospel of Jesus Christ.
