Hi I'm Mackenzie Richins

I was born and raised in Las Vegas. I attend BYU-Hawaii, and I will be serving a mission for 18 months in Nicaragua!

About Me

My name is Mackenzie and I am 18 years old. This past year I graduated high school and I now attend Brigham Young University Hawaii, where I am studying Pre-Professional Biology. After I graduate I hope to attend medical school and work to become a pediatric surgeon. I recently received my mission call, and beginning in April I will be serving the people of Nicaragua for a total of 18 months. I love photography and being outdoors. I also LOVE to read, (nerdy, I know).

Why I am a Mormon

I am lucky enough to say that I was born and raised in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, and that my family has always been very active within the church. My testimony of this gospel, however did not come from my parents. Even though I had grown up in the church, it was very important for me to know for myself whether or not this church was true. My testimony did not come through some miraculous event or by a visit from and angel. Instead it came through small, quiet confirmations over time. I exercised my faith by saying my prayers each morning and evening. After I read from the Book of Mormon each night, I prayed to know that the things I read were true. After being obedient to the commandments, and asking sincerely, I came to know with a surety that this is the only true church on the Earth today. I know that this gospel is true and that it has the power to change lives. I know that Joseph Smith saw our Heavenly Father and Jesus Christ, and that through the power of God he was able to translate the Book of Mormon. I know that the words in that book are true. I am so thankful for the gospel in my live and how it has blessed me. I am thankful for the knowledge that I am a child of God and that he knows me personally and individually. I love this gospel, and I hope to be able to share its amazing message and bring others unto Christ.

How I live my faith

Since I am currently in college, I attend the singles ward, which is a group of young adults that also go to my school. In my ward, I serve on the activities committee which, essentially organizes events and activities for the young adults in my ward.
