Hi I'm Matt McDonald

I'm a college student. I'm a hiker, camper, skier, and lover of the outdoors. I'm a Mormon!

About Me

I am currently serving an LDS mission in the beautiful state of Virginia! Before my mission I was attending Brigham Young University. I love playing sports, especially basketball and volleyball. I love to ski with my friends and family. I am also a huge fan of hiking and camping. I am most recently from Utah and have loved living close to so many beautiful mountains and have also lived in Washington, Idaho, and Texas.

Why I am a Mormon

My parents are members of the church so I grew up going to church and Sunday school, reading scriptures with the family, and saying prayers together. There wasn't simply one defining moment when I knew that the church was true, I've just gradually come to know and embrace it's truth over time from the example of my friends and family, from my own scripture studies, prayers, and church attendance, and especially from the constant confirmations I've personally received from the Holy Ghost as a witness to the truth of the restored gospel of Jesus Christ. I know that the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints is the one true church on the earth today and that it was restored by the prophet Joseph Smith. I also know that by the power of God, he was able to translate the Book of Mormon which we know to be the word of God and another testament of Jesus Christ. I also know that we have a prophet of God on the earth today, and that his name is Thomas S Monson. God is our loving Father in Heaven. I know that families can be together forever through His plan. I know that if we keep God's commandments and are obedient, He will richly bless us. I also know that Jesus Christ is our Savior, that He suffered the sins, pains, and afflictions of all mankind and overcame death for us, and that He has asked us to have faith in Him, repent, be baptized, receive the gift of the Holy Ghost, and endure to the end. In return for our obedience, we are promised eternal life with our families, with Jesus Christ, and with our Father in Heaven.

How I live my faith

I live my faith by doing my best to follow the example of Jesus Christ. I am far from perfect but I know my life would be a lot different if it weren't for Christ's influence on me. I go to church on Sundays, partake of the sacrament, read the Book of Mormon daily, pray, serve in my ward in callings, go home teaching, and go to the temple as often as I can. I also live my faith by inviting others to come unto Christ, which I am blessed to be able to do every day as a full-time missionary for the church.
