Hi I'm Melanie

I am a mother and housewife. My family is the most important thing to me. I am a Mormon.

About Me

I am a crafty person. I always enjoy a good craft. I really love to crochet, because I also love to watch movies. And I can crochet and watch movies at the same time. I enjoy sewing and quilting, but usually only do those when I have someone to do them with. I am married and have one child, a boy. My husband and I are currently trying to get pregnant again. My family is the most important thing to me and I absolutely love them. I am excited to see my family grow a little bigger. I am a geek. I love to read fantasy and science fiction novels, as well as the occasional romance. I love super hero movies and tv shows. My favorite tv show is Avatar: The Last Airbender. I also enjoy Doctor Who, Sherlock, and The Office. I love to play video games. My favorites are Pokemon and Super Smash Bros. I have attended one Comic Con and am attending my second later this year. I am a social person and I love to get out in a big group and just have fun. I am a loud person, and am quite outspoken. I tend to speak my mind regularly. And I love it. I am mostly a stay-at-home mom, but I am currently working as an instructor for the color guard at the college in my town. I spun flag, rifle, and saber at my high school, and have always dreamed of instructing others in this fun sport of the arts. I love being around the students and helping them to achieve their team goals. My favorite holiday is Halloween because I love being able to dress up. I am always in costume all day long.

Why I am a Mormon

I was raised a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. My parents were members, and thus I grew up surrounded by the standards set by the church. I was baptized a member when I was 8, as most children with LDS families are. I remember coming out of the water and feeling so warm inside. I knew that what I had done pleased some greater power, my Heavenly Father. I struggled with some sin in my teenage years and my young adult life. I still believed in God, but didn't feel that he cared for me. I met my future husband as I was struggling. It turned out that he was struggling, too. We strengthened each other and worked together to become people worthy of being married in the Lord's Holy Temple. Together, and with the help of our Heavenly Father, we became worthy to get married in the temple. This marriage is for eternity, in the presence of God. We have been so blessed to have each other through the past 4 years. We are always there for each other and I truly love my husband. We have an adorable son. I know that this power of creation that my husband and I have used was given to us by God. This miracle that is life is so incredible that, for me, it proves the existence of my Heavenly Father. I am not perfect, but I know that God loves me and is proud of me. He helps me through my struggles and gives me the strength I need to be an example to the world. I have received the blessings of the Atonement of Christ and I know that Jesus died for me to be clean. I have received revelation and I know that the Book of Mormon is the word of God. I know that God lives. I know that He loves me. I know that Jesus Christ is the Son of God and that He lives. I know that there is a prophet on this earth today who receives inspiration directly from God. I love my family so much and I know that we will be together forever. I say these things in the name of Jesus Christ, Amen.

How I live my faith

I am in a leadership position in my church ward. I am in the Primary Presidency, which works with the children of the church under the age of 12. I love to watch the children learn about the Gospel and grow closer to Christ. The Holy Spirit manifests itself very powerfully among children, and I am so grateful to be a part of the Primary Program. I love to serve the people around me. I find great joy in visiting my neighbors just to chat. I am called as a Visiting Teacher and get to visit three women each month to discuss the Gospel of Christ. I have grown to love the sisters I teach, each in their own individual ways. As a mother, I know I have a powerful influence on my son. I take the time with him to pray before each meal and before he goes to bed. I know that speaking to my Heavenly Father is important to me, and I want to show my son how important it can be for him. My son has learned to recognize pictures of Jesus Christ, as he has always had one hanging in his room. I take all the small chances I have to teach my son about his Savior, he may not understand much now, but I know that it is important for me to teach him now. With my work as a color guard instructor, it is not appropriate for me to discuss the Gospel of Christ at rehearsals. I still strive to show my values in the way I act, speak, and teach. I know that I was blessed to have a strong role model to look up to when I was younger, and I want to do the same for the students I teach. I strive every day to be a worthy example to these students and my son.
