Hi I'm Joe

Raised on east coast. Two missions for LDS church. Computer consultant, family history, photography. I am a Mormon.

About Me

Born and raised in Pennsylvania. I became fascinated with electronics while in junior high school. Graduated with a degree in electronics. Career as a field engineer and software guru for mainframe computers for 35 years. I am now retired but still a consultant in the electronics industry. Raised seven children. Hobbies include backpacking, camping, photography, woodworking, family history collection. I served as a young missionary in California and later with my wife in Africa after we retired. But there is nothing more grand that traveling and visiting with grandchildren; better than any other of my interests.

Why I am a Mormon

I was raised as a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. There is such a great spirit of camaraderie among the members because we try to follow the command from Jesus to love our neighbors. We are so happy to understand His message that we want to share it with as many who will listen. He has provided a great plan of happiness available to everyone who will hear is voice and follow his example. The Lord has appointed living prophets in our day to warn us of the perils that await us if we are not careful. The Book of Mormon is a witness to me that Jesus loves all God's children. It is available to all to read to determine how it can help them know the truth. I have my own spiritual witness that the Lord still speaks to mankind on the earth today.

How I live my faith

I served as a home and school club president in the local school district. I taught religion classes from the scriptures to high school age youth for 4 years with classes starting at 6:00 am. Served as a Sunday school teacher, leader of youth and adult church organizations and even as a bishop (ecclesiastical leader) of a congregation of over 500 members. I devote several hours of service each month visiting members of our local congregation to ensure they are getting along well.

Do you really believe there is a prophet like Moses alive today?

When I was a young boy one of my friends asked me what makes the Mormon church (The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints) different than other religions. One simple answer I gave him was "We have a prophet who is alive today to tell us what the Lord wants us to know." But looking back on that, I would love to have told my friend even more: that it makes no sense that God would seal the heavens after the Bible was written with no more revelation to guide us in a very confused world with so many voices trying to tell us what is right and what is wrong. Not only does the Lord have a living prophet on the earth today but there are also 12 Apostles, just as in the days of Jesus Christ. In truth, Jesus Christ is at the head of the church and he leads His church through the prophet and the Apostles. Show more Show less
