Hi I'm Leigh-Ann Rampersad

I grew up in Trinidad. I am about to serve a mission in the Kingston Jamaica mission. I'm a proud Mormon!

About Me

I am Leigh-Ann. I've been a member for approximately eight years now. I love swimming and basketball. I have a great interest in being a Biochemist, Pharmacist or Doctor. Though these are some of my interest, I have put my schooling on hold for eighteen months. I did this because I am about to serve a mission in the church (The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints) commencing at the end of January. Though I've been a member from a young age, I still faced many trials and tribulations however, I got through each of them. I grow each time and I always learn something new from the gospel on how I should face the different situations. I've seen the blessings of this church and I am very much thankful. Heavenly Father has guided me in so many different situations. I know that being out in the world will be confusing at times and sometimes it's easy to give into the bad stuff that is continuously tempting us. I also know that when you over come those temptations and stand tall and strong for what you believe in, you feel so much better. Though you may slip at times, we must always remember our Heavenly Father loves us and will forgive us.

Why I am a Mormon

Have you ever felt that something was missing but did not know what exactly? That was me! Though I was only eleven years old, I grew up in the Hindu faith, attended a christian school and sometimes on Sunday's I'll attend church with a neighbor. I was confused on all the different religions. My father worked consisted of him driving around for most of the day. However, one day he saw "two white guys" walking in the sun, red from being burnt up. He recalled, "Lord, please bless these two guys for they are doing your work". A couple days later, we heard someone knocking on the door. As my parents opened the door, it was the same two missionaries. It was the first time I saw them and my father vividly recalled seeing them and told them about it. My family was a bit skeptical about it so we did not contact the missionaries nor hold a discussion with them. Some weeks after, they caught us. There was no more hiding and there wasn't a need too. They were so persistent in meeting with us and though we gave a hard time, they did not give up. After the first discussion, there was no going back. As we knelt and prayer (first time ever for me) I felt an overwhelming joy. Peace filled the house and I knew that the Holy Ghost was present. They introduced the book of Mormon and asked us to read and pray about it. I know that Heavenly Father is happy with the decision we (my family and I) made on joining this church. This gospel is true and no matter what nothing can change my mind. I know that the book of Mormon is true and I know that it was brought forth for us in the last dispensation. Heavenly Father loves us and wants what's best for us. He wants us to return to him. I've chosen to be a member as I know this is the true church that has been restored on the face of the earth. I will continue to follow the gospel because I know it's where my heart will always be and I know the truthfulness of it. It surely can't be denied.

How I live my faith

I live my faith by doing the things that I've learnt. I am currently the Young Adults representative for my home ward. I try my utmost best to organize the planning and co-ordination of the activity from my home ward to any of the other branches. I live my faith by doing what is required of me as a young adult in the church. One of the biggest aspect for me is living worthy to enter into the holy temple. Hometeaching is a great way in which us sisters keep in touch with each other during the week/month. It has truly bring us closer as we have the time to talk and communicate with each other. It is a great way for us to support each other and form immovable and unbreakable friendship and sisterhood. Having been a member for years, I've learnt a lot and the teachings of the church has guided me in all aspects of my life. The gospel has helped me to be a better person and I know through the activities in church, I became a better individual. The activities and teachings presents itself in a nice, new way insomuch that everyone understands and loves it. My faith has been strengthen and continues to be strengthen each day and I know I as live the gospel and the standards of the church, I live by my faith.

What blessings can we receive through the gift of the Holy Ghost?

Leigh-Ann Rampersad
Through the gift of the Holy Ghost we can be blessed in so many ways. The Holy Ghost is the third God head. (Heavenly Father 1st and Jesus Christ 2nd). Jesus Christ taught us that once we are worthy, we will have the holy ghost to guide us on earth. In this church, it is through the holy ghost we know what is true. The indescribably feeling of joy, happiness, comfort, truthfulness and love is undeniable. As members of the church when we are baptized we are confirmed with the gift of the holy ghost. This means, we have the constant companionship of the Holy Ghost once we as member are worthy. We receive the holy ghost by the laying on of hands on the head of the individual who was baptized by the proper priesthood authority in which this authority is from God. The holy ghost guides us in all situations in life. The Holy Ghost is one of the greatest we have. Show more Show less
