Hi I'm Katie

I attend Brigham Young University. I love to dance. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I grew up in a small town in Idaho called Rigby. I currently attend BYU and could not have asked for a better educational experience. I enjoy being active, so this means I spend most of my time dancing, playing sports (like soccer or tennis), and finding the balance between work, school, homework, my dance team, my church calling, and more. My story may sound similar to many other's stories, but I can guarantee that I'm different. I come from a split family where my parents were divorced when I was 1 year old. I grew up not having much familial stability in my life and from this, I learned that I can do hard things, especially with help from the Savior, Jesus Christ.

Why I am a Mormon

I am a Mormon because being a member of the LDS church brings me more happiness than any other thing could. As I mentioned previously, my family life growing up was not always the easiest. I definitely experienced a lot of pain because of the circumstances and to be honest, I sometimes feel that pain even now. I do know, however, that this pain is swallowed up in Jesus Christ's Atonement. I have personally felt comforted and healed by the Savior, Jesus Christ, and to me, his ministry and mission are the center of what being a Mormon is all about. This church also has the only fully-restored truth on this earth and I've chosen to be a member because of the power and peace I feel from being a part of it. Life can be extremely difficult at times, and I need that strength to get me through some of the hardest days. Life can also be a big question mark. With the knowledge that I have learned from this gospel, I don't have to worry about or fear the unknown. I know that if I try my very hardest to live a good and righteous life, Heavenly Father will bless me. I know he will take care of me and not leave me on my own. I know that this is possible for everyone in the world because He loves and cares about ALL of us. For these reasons listed, along with many others, that's why I'm a Mormon.

How I live my faith

I live my faith by trying to do the little things. To me, the little things mean praying to Heavenly Father multiple times a day, reading the word of God on a daily basis, and acting in ways that reflect my testimony of Jesus Christ. As a member of the LDS church, I have had many opportunities to serve others and God. One particular service that I have come to love is that of visiting teaching. The goal of visiting teaching is to become friends with other members of the church, and to uplift them by sharing a message of hope and love. I have seen many times the power of visiting teaching appear in the eyes and faces of these members who have realized that God loves them no matter what. Currently, I actively serve in a calling that promotes family togetherness through a weekly activity called family home evening. The purpose of family home evening is to grow closer to those you love and who love you, to share your feelings and faith in Jesus Christ, and to have fun! With every calling I've had, whether it's with family home evening or another calling, I have learned how to live my faith and enjoy life as the blessing it is.
