Hi I'm Alex Gonzales

Singing makes me happy. I love to learn. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I have grown up in Texas my whole life. I have a wonderful parents, four sisters, and one brother. My family has grown significantly since I was a child and I also have two brother-in-laws, a sister-in-law, five nephews and four nieces. I have a beautiful American Eskimo dog, who is way too smart for her own good and very loving. She never gets tired of hugs, or scraps from the table. I have enjoyed music and theatre throughout my 21 years. I participated in State and Region choir competitions and have had many different roles on stage, my favorite being Lucy from "You're a Good Man Charlie Brown." To sing and entertain are wonderful gifts the Lord has given me, and I cherish them because they make others smile and laugh. I am currently a college student and am thoroughly enjoying that experience with my amazing friends. I work as a receptionist in a Gymnastics institution and find it to be a lot of fun. One of my most prized accomplishments is reaching the summit of Handies Peak, a 14,000 ft. mountain in Colorado. It was an amazing experience that has lead to having a more goal oriented life. I have found that many more accomplishment will follow when I let go of fear and never give up.

Why I am a Mormon

I am a Mormon because this gospel bring me peace. I grew up in this faith and my parents taught me a great deal about the gospel, and about God. The Church has taught me to gain a personal relationship with God, and seek truth on my own. After making a great deal of mistakes and having to come to terms with who I am and who I want to be, I found that the happiest I have ever been or ever will be is when I am a worthy member of this Church. I had to study and learn that the doctrine of this church is more than just good feelings and happy endings. It is truth. The truth for why am I here, where am I going, and what does it all mean. I know that Jesus Christ lives and that he is my Savior and Redeemer. His is the Prince of Peace and this is his gospel.

How I live my faith

My faith is continual. I pray to my Father in Heaven often, study scriptures, and attend Church. More than that I am a Visiting Teacher, I visit other women and try to serve and strengthen them. I was the primary chorister, or choir director, for a couple years and I am a member of the relief society. This is an organization of women who build each other through faith in Christ and provide, as the name suggest, relief to any and all women who need it. I live my faith by making and keeping covenants with God, and in turn I keep His commandments. I follow the word of wisdom by not consuming alcohol, coffee, tea, or drugs that are not proscribed by a physician. I try to remember the example of Jesus Christ and speak kindly towards others, be compassionate, and forgive. I choose to be thankful and to live my life with faith therefore being optimistic about as much as I can. I try very hard to refrain from verbal profanities and surround myself with uplifting literature and media. I spend time with my family, love them, and keep the Sabbath day holy.

What do Mormons believe about the Bible? Do they regard it as Holy Scripture and the word of God?

Alex Gonzales
Yes! The 8th article of faith (these articles are excerpts of what we believe) states, "We believe the Bible to be the word of God as far as it is translated correctly, we also believe the Book of Mormon to be the word of God." Show more Show less
