Hi I'm Teresa Jean Jackson

I'm a Mormon and I grew up in the Iowa.

About Me

We moved to Iowa in 2004 from Phoenix to be closer to family. At this time Darnell's Mom was suffering from terminal cancer in Phoenix. For the first time in our marriage Darnell became interested in going to church. I couldn't say no, even though I was reluctant. Together we ended up actively attending a local Christian church until 2011. During this time we became foster parents and ultimately adopted our son Jayden who was 6 weeks old when he came to live with us. He is now 4 years old. We adopted our second son Christian when he was 9 years old Dec 2012. In the spring of 2011 we knew we would be leaving the Christian church we were attending, we agreed that we would pray about where to go. My sister Carol, who has been a LDS member for more than 44 years, asked if the Missionaries could come and see us I said "No". She pleaded she wanted other of her family to become members I told her you have your sons. That was in the spring by Sept 24th Darnell and I were baptized. What happened is my nephew became active again his wife became a member and we went to my brothers baptism. Darnell and I both felt the spirit of God as never before in our lives. On our way home my loving sweet husband said, "I think we should become Mormons." I almost fell out of my seat and said, "We can look into it." He replied, "We need to go this Sunday." We went to church on the following Sunday. There we met the missionaries and they set up a time to come to our home to teach us.

Why I am a Mormon

With all my heart I believe this is the restored church of Jesus Christ and the Book Of Mormon is inspired word of God. My testimony just gets stronger and stronger. I'm so thankful in the later years of my life to find the true church, and be able to raise these two little boys placed in my and my husband's care in the church. Our journey has not ended - it is only just beginning. Teresa (Terri) Jackson

How I live my faith

We were Baptized September 24, 2011 and confirmed members of the Church Of Jesus Christ Latter Day Saints the following Sunday. It has been the most amazing years of our lives, and in ways the hardest. The road to the temple has been very challenging, yet we have gone to the temple now numerous times and are trying to make sure we go to the temple at least once every month. We decided early on that we would never give up. Darnell is a Melchizedek Priesthood holder. We went to the Nauvoo Temple for our endowment and have been sealed in the Winter Quarters Temple. We have been able to complete Family Search ordinances for many of our ancestors. We enjoy the callings that Heavenly Father has given us. Everyday I try to live as Jesus Christ and Heavenly Father would want me to. Some days I don't do so well but Jesus's Atonement covers me with love and tomorrow is a new day I repent and start again. I wish everyone could feel the joy and love I have felt since becoming a Mormon. My life has changed and I am so thankful that I can say I am a Mormon.
