Hi I'm Serena

I'm a Chicana, health nut, and volleyball fanatic. I'm going on an LDS mission to Ecuador. I'm a Mormon!

About Me

I hail from the great state of California! I am Latin and love my culture, volleyball is my passion, I love to swim, and I never use a recipe when cooking. I am attending college studying health and enjoy learning about how to be healthy! Family means everything to me, and so does my religion. This is why I am putting all my favorite things on hold to be a missionary in Ecuador.

Why I am a Mormon

There is no better way to live. Even though I was born into the church, my family was not active growing up; consequently, I grew up as a convert learning about the church in my preteen years. When I compare my life before I was active, I realize life got billion times better when I lived as a Mormon. I feel more happy, hopeful, grateful, and loved. Knowing God loves me motivates me to achieve more. He has proved his love through Jesus Christ's Atonement, and through Christ I am strengthened in all things and ALL things are possible. So the reason I am Mormon is simple... life + being LDS = BETTER!

How I live my faith

My faith is expressed in everything I do. Everyday I read from my scriptures and listen to inspiring talks from church leaders. The things I learn are so good I share them with everyone I meet during the day! Doing service at my local community center I live my faith. Above all I strengthen my faith through prayer with my Heavenly Father. I pray in the morning, at night, over my food, before I leave my house; I try to pray always. Praying to God, knowing he listens, loves, and cares for me makes me want to pray. It feels so good to talk to my Heavenly Father because he answers, blesses and guides me. Prayer is my acceptance of his invitation for him to be involved in every part of my life; the best part is he WANTS to be part of my life. This is part of what I teach people as a full time missionary. I teach that God cares for them, he loves them, and he wants to be part of their life.
