Hi I'm Denise Rasmussen Kelly

I'm a wife, mother, grandmother and grateful to say I am a Mormon.

About Me

I am happily married for more than 40 years to my best friend. We have 4 sons and 3 daughters and 19 grandchildren. We also have an "adopted family" with 4 more grandchildren. I love to be with this wild and wonderful group. I enjoy watching our grandchildren participate in many activities including sports, music, playing together and serving others. I love Disney World and all the joy it brings to people. My husband and I love traveling and staying home. We read many different types of books and enjoy watching sports--go BYU and the Utah Jazz. I am a retired pediatric nurse and I love children. I had the great blessing of being raised as a Navy child, traveling to many places where my father was stationed. I learned throughout my childhood that the world is filled with wonderful, kind and caring people who have much to offer. I am grateful for the good example my mother was to me in teaching me that when we love and serve others, we can make a difference.

Why I am a Mormon

I am a Mormon because I have learned for myself that Heavenly Father loves me and wants me to be happy. I have not had the perfect, problem free life but I have had a life filled with miracles and tender mercies from Him. Seven years ago, our youngest son was killed in an industrial accident at the age of 22. It was a very difficult experience for our family but the knowledge that I have that he is with our Heavenly Father and with other family members who have passed away has been a great comfort to me. I know that because of temple ordinances, we are sealed together and will continue to be a family after this life. I know that God is mindful of us. He knows who we are and loves us more than we can comprehend. His plan for us is simple and true. If we are faithful and live the commandments, He will bless us with all that He has. I know that this is His true church. Joseph Smith saw God the Father and Jesus Christ and heard them speak. Thomas S. Monson is a true prophet who guides our church today and leads us in righteousness. I know my prayers are heard and answered, not always the way I hope but always in the way that is best for me. My favorite scripture is Psalms 46:10 "Be still and know that I am God."

How I live my faith

I live my faith by reading the scriptures, serving the youth and attending my church meetings and the temple as frequently as I can. I have been a leader in my local congregation and have greatly enjoyed the opportunities I have had to lead and teach the children and women of my ward. I am renewed each week as I attend my meetings on Sunday and learn and grow through the interactions with others. My husband and I also serve as Service Missionaries currently focusing on helping people find employment. Soon we will leave our home and family to serve a fulltime mission for 23 months. We look forward to this opportunity to share the blessings we have received because of our faith.
