Hi I'm Jade Lewis

I'm a born and raised Utahn and I recently returned home from the Jamaica Kingston Mission

About Me

I enjoy running, reading, being a complete Nerd, and eating food :D I'm currently a Freshman at the local university, where I'm studying Nursing. Later on I would like to work at some kind of doctors office.

Why I am a Mormon

I was born into the religion with several generations of examples to back me up. There have been numerous occasion where I probably could've left the church if I wanted. But, thanks to the good and bad examples of my family I've decided that the "Mormon" lifestyle is one that I love and I wouldn't want to give it up. Adding to that is the testimony that I've gained by "experimenting" with gospel principles. Some of my lessons have been painful, but others have brought more joy than I ever thought possible. Being able to be a part of this church will forever be a blessing, and possibly one of the hardest things I'll forever do. The gospel gives so much room for growth, and I like being able to look back at who I was knowing that it will never be me again, as long as I work for it.

How I live my faith

I've returned from my mission a little over four months ago, and it has been an experience of a life time. The mission is a great way to learn how to submerge yourself in the gospel, and coming home is learning how to live that knew you that you became while returning to the life that you left behind. The daily things like reading scriptures, praying, and actually living the gospel have been a big source of strength.

Do Mormons practice polygamy?

Jade Lewis
During the churches earlier days yes they did, and the few polygamist marriages that did happen were authorized by God. Although the church no longer practices this. The churches fourth prophet President Wilford Woodruff received revelation that polygamy in the church needed to end. This is documented in the churches rule book called Doctrine and Covenants under Official Declaration 1. There is a church that broke off from from The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints after Woodruff had this revelation. They are called the FLDS (Fundamentalist Latter Day Saints), and they have some of the ucky things you hear about on the News, like with Warren Jeff's and that compound in Texas. The churches official statement on this is on LDS.org Show more Show less
